I won’t argue that any of that is not annoying, but I will ad I’ve always hated and ran into problems with how this works at an even more core level.
If I make a .cc project and work on a character, then I send to iClone - I shouldn’t now have some different iavatar project in character creator. Keep that implementation garbage to yourself. An iavatar should be sent to iClone, deal with that and don’t involve me, and in character creator I should be looking at my .cc project. I didn’t create a new project. I didn’t convert anything to anything. I exported my character to iClone. I’ve never seen something so unintuitive and the opposite of useful to me every damn time.

Yeah, it all does not make much sense... When you add Kevin ("CC4 Kevin.ccAvatar" from built in characters pack in IC8) to IC8 and "send to CC4" , file name in CC4 is "TempAvatar,iAvatar" If you send it back to IC8 file name in CC4 changes to " TempAvatarWithMotionPlus,iAvatar" Unless it has a crucial reason, I guess some coding could stop this nonsense. Cause when I load "CC4 Kevin" from the built in characters within CC4, file name is "CC4 Kevin.ccAvatar" When I load same Kevin in IC8 and send to CC4, why not simply also call it "CC4 Kevin.ccAvatar"?

Hmm, I just sent Camilla, and it even becomes TempAvatarWithMotionPlus. Curious... This brings up something related that happens when you save as iAvatar. I would expect the file name in the title bar to remain NAME.ccAvatar, instead it is now NAME.iAvatar.

Okidoki, was just wondering it did not do this on your side when you use send to iClone...

OK. I hardly ever use "Send to iClone" because it doesn't give control over the export parameters. If it is desirable for this behavior to be changed, there is FT. Some questions posed here get ignored...

animagic (1/9/2023) I have not been able to repeat it in my workflow.Did you use "send to iClone" button in CC4?? When doing so, CC4 always reverts file name to "TempAvatar.iAvatar" on my side... But if you use "export iAvatar" it won't do so. No big deal as I mostly save under correct name before using "send to iClone" button, but it would be cool if CC wouldn't do this...

I am still encountering the same weird problem after I tried all this.. Until now I don't understand what makes RL have this 'option' in CC to change the file names after sending to IC?! Both apps are standalone, so why this TempAvatar why?!! It consumes time as well as forcing the user to revert to the original file after every IC export. General Picture Animation (1/1/2023) (1) Create a new avatar in CC and export it as NAME.iAvatar. (2) The project name turns to NAME.ccProject. (3) Export the avatar to iClone and the avatar name changes to TempAvatar, also changing the default name for saving the project again. (4) Update TempAvatar with any changes and try to update the file using Export. (5) You can't automatically update NAME.iAvatar--you must write over "TempAvatar.iAvatar" in the dialog box. The poster is asking anyone to explain why this is desirable, let alone logical. It pretty much violates the file standards for every other Windows app.

animagic (1/5/2023) So in my case the following happens:
1) I create a new avatar using headshot (the default name at that point is the name of the base character). 2) I save it as NAME.iAvatar, the name in the title bar is now NAME.iAvatar. 3) I save it locally as a CC character, clicking Save in the Avatar panel: I get prompted for a name. 4) I save it locally as a CC project, clicking Save in the Project panel: I get prompted for a name. 5) I export again, now as NAME2.iAvatar, the name in the title bar is now NAME2.iAvatar.
I don't like that the name of the iAvatar is shown in the title bar (it should keep the project name), but I don't get TempAvatar at any pont.I did this but CC strangely still changing my character file name to TempAvatar whenever I click on send to IC
