Thank you for your reply, although I didn't exactly understand it.. So why CC changes the original name?!

When you save a character in CC, it is called a .ccAvatar. When you export to IC, it is saved as an .iAvatar. It is just called a tempAvatar until you change the name. If you don't change the name, it will be tempAvatar 1, tempAvatar 2 and so on.

(1) Create a new avatar in CC and export it as NAME.iAvatar. (2) The project name turns to NAME.ccProject. (3) Export the avatar to iClone and the avatar name changes to TempAvatar, also changing the default name for saving the project again. (4) Update TempAvatar with any changes and try to update the file using Export. (5) You can't automatically update NAME.iAvatar--you must write over "TempAvatar.iAvatar" in the dialog box. The poster is asking anyone to explain why this is desirable, let alone logical. It pretty much violates the file standards for every other Windows app.

Thank you Michael and GPA for your detailed responses, very interesting to know. However, in my case -as most CC users- I design my own character in CC, there's a button in the menu to send my character to IC.. Here I want to test it animating in IC while I want to keep working on it.. This is impossible as CC changes the file name to 'TempAvatar' right after sending it to IC.. I have no option but to reopen it again or save it as the original name.

The best way to avoid this, I think, is to save the avatar first in CC as iAvatar, in which case it will have its assigned name, which is the name it is given in CC (assuming that it has been given a name). By sending it directly to iClone it is considered a temporary file and is given some generic name. You would still have to save it in iClone to have it saved. I hardly ever use the send directly to iClone option, so I don't encounter this problem.

Still waiting for a response to this: General Picture Animation (1/1/2023) (1) Create a new avatar in CC and export it as NAME.iAvatar. (2) The project name turns to NAME.ccProject. So in my case the following happens: 1) I create a new avatar using headshot (the default name at that point is the name of the base character). 2) I save it as NAME.iAvatar, the name in the title bar is now NAME.iAvatar. 3) I save it locally as a CC character, clicking Save in the Avatar panel: I get prompted for a name. 4) I save it locally as a CC project, clicking Save in the Project panel: I get prompted for a name. 5) I export again, now as NAME2.iAvatar, the name in the title bar is now NAME2.iAvatar. I don't like that the name of the iAvatar is shown in the title bar (it should keep the project name), but I don't get TempAvatar at any pont.
