Animations are not CC components. The extended license only applies to hair, clothing, etc. valid for cc components such as. Apart from this, you can use other products that do not have an extended license option, unlimitedly.

yepkoo (10/13/2022) Animations are not CC components. The extended license only applies to hair, clothing, etc. valid for cc components such as. Apart from this, you can use other products that do not have an extended license option, unlimitedly. That is how I understood it before referring to the EULA and the Content Specifications page. But the information in the Content License Policy page here does not seem to say that and it mentioned number of uses. It's funny I had to make this spreadsheet to try and understand the Commercial License described under EULA. Please feel free to let me know if there are any corrections... I want to understand the number of usage allowed too.

I tried to digest the license for Commercial Use again but this time, also included the info under the Content License Models table and Notes in the Content License Policy page. The simpler " non-commercial use" parts are again excluded from this analysis as I feel it's not that important. Most customers would probably be interested more in understanding what they will get with the Standard License concerning its Commercial Use aspect. We need to understand first what are CC Components.
--- CC Component is Character Creator’s proprietary file format. CC Components include, but are not limited to ccAvatars, ccProjects, ccSliders, ccHair, ccCloth, ccShoes and ccGloves that are used to create, assemble, or customize unlimited characters. --- With Standard License' Commercial Use for games, XR, and interactive services, a license owner will get the following: - CC Components in characters are allowed for Imagery / General Use.
- CC Components in characters are allowed for Games, XR, & Interactive Online Services use. But one (1) Standard License grants output for only one (1) Single Character. This specific character can be used in various projects, games, XR, and interactive services as well, as long as it is the same character.
- All exportable 3D Assets including Motion, Accessory, Prop, Scene and Material can be deployed for general purpose in Games, XR, & Interactive Online Services.
To anyone interested, here's the updated spreadsheet screenshot that includes Commercial Use information other than just for Games, XR, & Interactive Online Services. "Y" means Yes and "N" means No. "-" means inapplicable. Please correct me if there are wrong entries and what I have misunderstood. Thank you! :) P.S.: To avoid confusion and for flexibility, it's best to just get an Extended License... unless you only really want to use these software/resources for play and experimentations or video creations. There is no upgrade price for Licenses. You will need to repurchase to get an Extended License even if you already have a Standard License of the same product. I'm not a lawyer so take all of these information with a grain of salt. :PEDIT: Corrected the CC Components: One Specific Character for the Extended License: Other Uses. Changed from "Y" to "N" as it has no such restrictions on Games, APP / Interactive Online Services, & AR / VR (XR).

Honestly, I didn't feel the need to examine the license in detail since @Peter's many explanations about it are already available on the forum. Just the following paragraph looks interesting. I know that we cannot use standard licensed CC components in games. However, in the following paragraph, I have deduced that we can use the standard licensed products commercially, provided that they are used in a one-off character. In fact, we can use the same character in more than one game, provided that this character is not corrupted. Maybe I misunderstood. If there is such a thing, it seems advantageous for individual users who will produce their first games. Of course, since there is no option to upgrade to an extended license, it is necessary to make sure that the game to be sold can cover these costs. If this is true and I had known earlier, I could have purchased the (clothing) marketplace product that had been discounted the previous week. Since I don't know if I can use the clothes that I can use in video production while developing games, I can't buy any of them. At least for large packages I may not risk, but for small packages I can purchase standard licensed products and use them in video production.

yepkoo (10/13/2022)Honestly, I didn't feel the need to examine the license in detail since @Peter's many explanations about it are already available on the forum Maybe I'm just too old and not that snappy anymore. I just had to read "everything" and look at it at a bird's-eye view to sort of have it "sink" in. :laugh:yepkoo (10/13/2022)Just the following paragraph looks interesting. However, in the following paragraph, I have deduced that we can use the standard licensed products commercially, provided that they are used in a one-off character. In fact, we can use the same character in more than one game, provided that this character is not corrupted. In the EULA page, the " one-off character" clause was NOT mentioned anywhere. That is what confused me earlier as with the below conflicting paragraph therein. But I thought since the clause is indicated under the Extended License section (see below), maybe that version of the Standard License only applies under that license type cancelling out the default one since its not needed anymore when the customer already have an Extended License."2.2 EXTENDED LICENSE. License Granted. (A) All exportable Contents with a Standard License can be used for a game, APP, or AR/VR project, except CC Component contents. If you use a CC Character in a game, APP, or AR/VR project, which is created by CC Components, you will be required to purchase the Extended License for these CC Component contents. All available CC Component contents are specified on each product page of the Reallusion's Stores." yepkoo (10/13/2022)Maybe I misunderstood. If there is such a thing, it seems advantageous for individual users who will produce their first games. Of course, since there is no option to upgrade to an extended license, it is necessary to make sure that the game to be sold can cover these costs. Looks like it... But I think it's case-to-case basis. For newbies or Indies from non-first world countries, even the discounted List Price of a product with a Standard License is already too much. Because they're new to the industry, most will have to take a very high risk of NOT covering their cost of their first game. Failure is quite common. So if someone will ask, I still prefer the popular and friendlier licensing model that shares the risk. :)

Adolf's products are sold with extended license included. I immediately bought the product (Adventure Combo) that he added to the store because I liked it. I had to meet the required limit to qualify for the free CTA5. This product was like a lottery for me :) I prefer products with extended licenses as much as I can. I was lucky to have purchased the hair packs earlier. There are only 3 big packages that I might need. Campaigns etc. i prefer to wait to see what happens.

I had to meet the required limit to qualify for the free CTA5. This product was like a lottery for me :) Yeah, that looks like an excellent bundle of 3D assets. So detailed and highly configurable and with attached scripts even! :w00t: I want to buy it because I want to support the creator for having Export License available at Standard License price by default for his products... But with limited budget now, I'm focusing first on acquiring the core add-ons/plugins for Character Creator 3 & maybe iClone 7 too. I might have to bypass using iClone 7 though since it got stuck with missing important features (i.e. 3DXchange, Curve Editor, etc.). This will force me to learn using and animating directly in Blender and/or UE5. Maybe that is a good thing in the long run since monetary cost required to utilize them is more affordable. For CTA 5, I decided not to get it even if they're giving it out on promo because it's not my priority right now. It's another system that will require more time and money investment and I can't catch up with the CC & the iClone systems already. :hehe:yepkoo (10/13/2022)I prefer products with extended licenses as much as I can. Me too as it's one less thing to worry. How nice it would be to just simply use a purchased asset without thinking whether you can still use it or not due to license restrictions. I hope there willl also have a nice sale for products with Extended License. I tend to automatically ignore products with only a Standard License. yepkoo (10/13/2022)I was lucky to have purchased the hair packs earlier. There are only 3 big packages that I might need. Campaigns etc. i prefer to wait to see what happens. The US$597 asking price for the Extended License for the Hair & Beard Builder Combo is just ridiculously too much in my opinion. Good thing you got a better deal for them in the past. I am also waiting for the upcoming sale and hoping to snag some great deals! "Hoping" is a word that I seem to use too much lately.

If it helps, as far as I can see on the Content Store, the Hair Builder package is sold with an extended license at the standard license price. You can probably get it at a very affordable price with the black friday or new year's campaign.

You can probably get it at a very affordable price with the black friday or new year's campaign. Thanks for the notification yepkoo! Yes, I've noticed that and actually been deliberating for a few days now whether to buy it or not. It's torture! You see I am considering which is more important now: Wait for Black Friday Sale this November and maybe there will be a " buy 2 get 50% promo" on total purchase like last year and finally be able to upgrade to Character Creator 4 and iClone 8. But If I do that, I have to find alternative way to have custom hair. I can also just delay my upgrade further by purchasing some content now like the Hair & Beard Builder Combo then get CTA 5 too. But I will have to use Blender or UE5 then to create short films/animations. You see, without 3DXchange Pipeline, I'm stuck in my iClone 7 if I want to do the animation therein as I cannot completely import / export some custom models/props/motions. Then again, maybe its better to "beef up" my Character Creator 3 by acquiring remaining major add-ons for it and just use that to produce characters while simply disregarding using iClone 7. I also read that there are not enough male hair in the Hair & Beard Builder Combo? Is that true?

When you need more than one product and you have to choose between them, it is really frustrating and this happens to me quite often. :D Yes if you buy the hair pack now you will qualify for free CTA5. So, which program does your workflow mainly involve using? Your first alternative; You can already use existing programs with Unreal Engine. Since you have CC3 pipeline, you can import Hair and clothes from DAZ store. You may have serious problems with animations. For this, you only have to make do with the animations you will get from the RL stores. Your second alternative; Switching to CC4 and iC8 and postponing other necessary content like hair packs for a few months. It would not be wrong to say that there are huge differences between iC8 and iC7 in terms of convenience. Preparing an animation saves you 70-80% of your time. You can also animate even if you import a stone to CC4. Indeed, there is a huge difference between these programs. I don't want to mislead. It totally depends on your needs. But if I were you, I would prefer to upgrade programs for now instead of purchasing content.
