Hi there!
I have a problem with substance super tool in Iclone 7 and Iclone 8.
Each time applied the decal from the substance super tool, I got a result like shown in the attached picture.
I tried to work in Iclone 8 and encountered the same issue.
Please advice...

I think the problem is that you use a thumbnail for your texture. You will need an image file (jpg or png) of a wall.

It's kind of fast, but this short video explains it:

Thanks for your reply.
I watched your video several times but I can not understand what is the problem.
In the first picture (captured from your video), I see that the list of materials is totally from mine in the second picture.
The problem is that when I double clicked on the first icon of Base options, I always got the thumbnails of png files. (I cannot see "brick_o6.png"...
Please help...

Hi Sombat,

I had an issue with the substance decal too   -  in my case it turned out that I had an older version of the Substance decal - v1 -  and many of the tutorials are showing how to work with Version 2, -  if you purchased the substance package when it came out,  the video tutorials in that pack explain how it works -  which is completely different than version 2.

don't bother messaging support on this,  sadly they didn't have a clue what I was talking about and sent me to the version 2 video then went on to tell me i was wrong lol.    V2 is pbr with displacement,  V1  has no displacement and has a completely different workflow.

In V1,  you basically have to start from scratch and build the entire substance in the substance panel area.   I couldn't find the v1 version tutorial of that on youtube,  only in the tutorials that came with the substance software at that time.

It's not really my video, it's one I found, sorry. I haven't really used the feature myself and I hoped the video would help but it doesn't seem to be that simple.

Looking again at it, it seems they use resources in a PBRDecal folder that I don't have myself.

But what you are looking at in the images you posted are thumbnails of Substance Materials. If you look into that folder you will see pairs of files with the same names but different extensions. Those you don't want to use.

What you need to find instead is a regular jpg or png of, for example, a brick texture. But then you also a normal map, etc.

So this is not particularly straightforward to use. I could probably figure it out, but I don't have the time right now.

Indeed, to utilize Layered Decal Tools you need a set of texture images (base, normal, AO, roughness, ..etc) for each layer.
Example in the video uses resource samples, which can be downloaded for some tools (including Decal) from the bottom of this page: https://www.reallusion.com/ContentStore/iClone/pack/iClone7-Substance-Super-Tools/default.html
