After iClone 6 release, we constantly collected users' feedbacks about the DirectX 11 (DX-11) graphics card compatibility issues. So, our product team has released the beta version of iClone 6 for DX-9 that you can experience at first hand.

This Beta program is designed for any iClone 6 Standard/PRO purchase users who can't run iClone 6 smoothly due to the system limitation (including launch failure, crash, and iClone 5 content compatibility).

With this new update, DX-9 users can still play with iClone 6 and most iClone 5 level content. This would entail limitations of certain DX-11 related features like Displacement, Real-time Smoothing, SpeedTree, limited number of lighting, and partial Indigo support. Please check out the differences.

Simply download and install the patch below, and you will notice there is a new graphics mode option, and then select "DirectX 9 (Beta)" to test out its performance. You are welcome to leave yourcomments and feedbacks in this thread. Our product team will collect your inputs to build the official version 6.02 as final release.

Can you have both DX9 and DX11 coexisting side-by-side?

CLARIFICATION... I meant can you have the DX9 version of iClone 6 and the DX11 version of iClone 6 both installed at the same time, like we can with iC4, iC5, and iC6

Or does this overwrite the DX11 installation [of iClone]?  If so, then if you upgrade your graphics card later will you have to uninstall and reinstall iClone to start using the DX11 version [of iClone]?

Lastly... Although I expressed concern that this would be a distraction that diverts development resurces from working on fixes and enhancements to DX11-iClone 6, I am pleased that Reallusion **DOES** pay attention to their user base.

Installed IC 6 standard version and installed patch on my old laptop.
Failure to initialize same as the pro version. I can't launch to see the dx 9 boot selection.

Nvidia 330m supports dx 10 and shader model 4.0. Launched with admin rights. Should've work :D

My question too, Dennis. Since W7 OS is DX11, which in theory is backwards compatible & my GPU is DX11, but iC5 Installer, Installs MS DX9. Is it that only iC5 is DX 9 & other Imaging Applications eg; Photoshop, Pinnacle Studio, remain DX11?

It says it's a patch, rather than a whole different version, and you choose either 9 or 11 when you run the program.

So, no co-running iC6's I should think. But I use 5 and six together all the time (working on avatars), so DX9 andDX11 are certainly co-existing. :)

@Hattori, make sure you have the latest dx9c version installed... I had to install it manually way back when.

I thought the "DX9/11" choice was when you were installing the patch, not while launching iClone every time.

Reading it more carefully, it sounds like it's a "preference" you can set inside iClone once you've launched it.  If that's the case, how does it help people who can't even get it to launch start correctly?  I'm kind of back to it being a choice you make while installing the patch.

So you can toggle back-and-forth between them anytime you want?

Ok will check the dx version. Its an old laptop.:D

I have another PC I can try this on. Is the patch cumulative, or do I have to apply 6.01 first?
