aknzrdude (6/2/2009) just completed my rebuild this past weekend so i am now on core i7, vista 64 with 6GB RAM - will start playing to see if any improvements on CS4 and icloneCongratulations, I think you will like it. I was reluctant using Vista, but the 64-bit version is really nice. Using my 32-bit XP machine is now kind of painful...

actually one of the reasons i went 64 bit - premier CS4 on win vista 32 was excruciatingly slow - i ended up going back to premier pro to edit my 720p video ( The Expedition) coz the preview window of CS4 almost like a slideshow the other reason was the limit on how many characters you can have in once scene with props and sets before iclone starts slowing down- the jungle battle scene (09:27) in my movie above was painful to choreograph since iclone has really bogged down and slow - so had to reduce the characters from 14 down to 8 just so i can see what i am doing just completed my rebuild this past weekend so i am now on core i7, vista 64 with 6GB RAM - will start playing to see if any improvements on CS4 and iclone

I too am strongly looking at 64 bit especially for video editing using CS4. I think we need a thread specifically for current and soon to be 64 bit users.

There's always the possibility, but no news to tell you on that front yet I'm afraid.

Thanks Peter.
Any possibility of a 64 bit version of iCLone?

One of my questions is does iClone take advantage of Duo Core Quad processors?
Next would be when can we expect a 64bit version of iClone?
Take a look at the link below which explains how iClone currently works with Intel processors. This should help explain all you need to know. http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/ic_32performance.asp.

I have prepared for it by leaving unallocated space on my system hard drive (about 100GB, which is plenty). I haven't really tried it yet, too busy with other things. I think with the unallocated partition available, it's pretty straightforward; apparently you just tell Windows 7 to use that. It's been some time since I looked into it and I don't remember all the details. But I believe the newer OS will see the older one and the appropriate boot menu will be created. As far as the iClone install is concerned that's a good question and I didn't think of that. My guess is it will take an additional license if a separate install is needed. Which makes sense as there is a different registry, path to DLLs, etc. You can always try to run the Vista installation and see what happens...

Hi, Just tuppence to add. Mellomedia is right re: running twinned Graphics cards. I use a single nVidia top end card. Gig of ram on board. And 4 gigs in the main house. Its a really really tough card to overload. I must be into the thousand count of props in some scenes. I'm not kidding. It just seems to eat everything I give it. I dont use mass characters, so I havent pushed it that far yet. The worst I get with nVidia on top end load is a short half second delay when I drag the view round on a scene with everything and the kitchen sink in it. And thats it. After which its as fast as if there was half a dozen bits. I cant imagine what two would be like. But at $620:00 per card in England they're not a light purchase. It might have been an idea simply to install a pair like this and see how it runs. Each of these cards is a Gig of extra graphics ram and when you watch the file open in iCLone, oneof mine anyway, I see the main system churning through the Ram and the level goes down and down and down and suddenly coughs out a Gigs worth into the card. I would swear by them. Wish I had found these a year ago.
