Hello!
I am enjoying iClone5 very much, its a great program. I have managed to understand just about everything I need for what I am doing. There is one thing that I have not been able to figure out though.

Please help me understand what is going on with my renders. Lets say I have a render of 2000 frames to do. I have been using AVI 720p.

When the renderer starts, it will tell me its rending 1000 frames. It will render the whole scene from beginning to end, but I am not sure why its only rendering 1000 where it should be 2000.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Try checking your Frames Per Second output just above the Export button. The default setting is 30 FPS. See if you turned your FPS to a lower rate.

I always export at 24 FPS (which is motion picture level anyway, 30 FPS is old standard for video games), which considerably drops the number of frames being rendered, but does not compromise the niceness of the rendering. :)

Hope this helps,

During my troubleshooting of this problem I adjusted it from the default of 24 to 30, but it did not change the frames rendered.

The output video seems to be ok in playback, but I am not sure if I'm getting all the frames.
I am wondering if it has something to do with "interlacing" which I am vaguely aware of, though I am not aware of where and how to change that.

I am currently rendering to AVI, uncompressed, hoping to eliminate any issues.
Thanks for the reply tho!

I posed the same question earlier. The answer I got was that some of the output formats require up to 60 frames per second, which is why the timeline uses that standard. But video formats like WMV and AVI will only render 30 fps. Unless you have thinks flickering one frame at a time in the timeline, your videos won't have any loss in quality.

I find this very troublesome, too. I've been working around it, but one strangeness remains: I have a test animation I'm doing. The scene and camera render out at one frame rate, but the character seems to render at another. Or at least I *think* that's what's going on.

Everything looks fine in the animation preview, but when I render it, the camera flies thru the scene as expected, but the character only gets through 1/4 of his movements. It's as if ONLY the character is moving in slow motion, but the rest of the scene renders fine.

Anyone have any similar issue?

Peace,
Bud

Hey Bud,
That is very strange that your preview works but renders don't! I have not had that problem. So far my character and cameras/other animations perform as expected. Thinking on it, I can't come up with any possibilities to you to try.

FYI- I tried rendering out to WVM and the renderer steps through each frame as expected.
But some of the frames of the WVM are distorted, or how can I say, look "broken up" and is a useless output for me to use for compositing my movie, however comparing the WVM to the AVI they look the same motion wise, so I am assuming despite the renderer reporting only rendering half the frames, it is rendering them all.

It's quite bizarre and I still haven't found the problem. Preview is fine, but the character's animation renders out of sync (slower). I have only tried using AVI.

Maybe someone else who has had the problem will see these posts. Or maybe one of the programmers will have a theory as to how it could possibly happen.

I thought of it being a setting, but I can't imagine why an out-of-sync animation would ever be useful. In other words, why would there be such a setting?

Peace,
Bud

My dear
the whole thing may be cause of your pc capabilities (i e your processor and vgp card and memories chips i read the following topic which assume a pc of quad processor but still not enough read it pls https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic127116-281-1.aspx#bm127122
especially
I think Reallusion's Recommended CPU Spec is 2.24 GHz. IMO, that should be considered the Minimum. However, it depends upon your workflow. I need to Google your GPU.
As far as I'm aware, Maya doesn't have a Realtime Play-back Render Engine, whereas iClone does. It's that which requires a higher PC Hardware Spec, IMO.
good day
