Hi

So does anyone know awt about Maps Textures

I have a lighter I made in Zbrush

In Iclone

Now Im ok with bump maps what other maps should I be making for use in Iclone. Do some maps go by other names because in Xnormal I can create most if not all maps but only bump relates to Iclone ..

Cheers for any help with this...

Nice model!
I like to add a specular map so the "shine" doesn't clash with the bump map. I think it's the same as an "ambient occlusion" map in some other programs.

:PThat makes absolutely No Sense!:P

Perhaps you mean you like to add a specular map to correctly enhance reflections!
It's impossible for a spec map to clash with a bump map!

Makes perfect sense - If you have a bump map, it gives the impression of depth without actually changing the mesh. If your add specularity, it will ignore the bump map, and give an even shine to the whole flat face of the model. This clashing between the two conflicting sets of information makes the model look fake. Using a specular map will make the shining correspond to the bump map, unifying the two sets of information and adding to a realistic look.

CAn anyone tell me why I am only producing very flat white ambiant maps ? I am getting very detailed bump maps and cavity maps but my Ambiant Occlusions are washed out ...

Any Ideas ?

Also is there another term for Specular map .. Xnormal does not have that option ?

That cool Swooop I will work on it ...

One question though to the experts on Iclone props ..How big in MB would you expect a Iprop of a lighter to be ?

I need something to aim at if you know what I mean ..:)

Hang on let me put that another way .. if the lighter was going to be a focus of a scene so had to be detailed how big a file size would you aim for ...

I can just go High polly but feel it would be being lazy n I wouldnt learn awt ...:D

Right so in a play off between Polly count and texture size I should go for more pollys over larger textures ?

OK which takes up more resources ?

If you look at me second Image at the start of this thread how many polly would you expect that to be ?

I know my way around photoshop but not sure how I should be blending the textures I produce ...
