Hi StyleMarshal and Forum Gang! I've been away dealing with a long-term family health crisis which has finally ended. It took me a while to get back in the mood to create.
I'm working on a new project -- a UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) "game experience." I want to feature an NPC character who will function as a kind of host providing information, clues and challenges to the players. I built the character using the Fortnite skeletal mesh and skeleton, customizing it in Blender and Substance Painter.
The character was then transferred to Unreal Engine 5.4 using Epic Games Send2UE plugin, which worked great! The character was pushed to Unreal Engine, and the bone orientation was correct.
Here's the character doing a simple Fortnite emote dance in Blender:
I need some advice. I need an animation Control Rig that I can use in Sequencer in Unreal Engine so that I can create my own custom animations to be imported into UEFN. I tried the new experimental Modular Control Rig in Unreal Engine, and it actually tore a hole in my character's mesh. Does anyone have any idea how I can make a Control Rig that works? I don't even know where to begin. I know that Reallusion has a Control Rig for Metahumans, but this is a Fortnite character with a Fortnite skeleton. It's different than the UE 5 mannequin skeleton. Would Reallusion work in this instance? I do have a the latest Character Creator and iClone, although I've yet to do anything with them. But it doesn't have to be Reallusion, if there's a better way. I'd appreciate any good ideas, thanks!Hey Joe, nice 2 see you are back 😀
I didn't work with UEFN yet but did you try this one here ?
p.s. , as far as I know RL is currently working on a plugin for UEFN....
