I also wanted to get to the bottom of it, as a few of my items at the marketplace were also affected by this problem.
I have the same NVIDIA drivers and I kept checking for this issue fix after each RL update.
After some more digging, I found out that they have actually partially fixed it (I did not try to render yesterday).
So now it renders just fine, but still does not display correctly in view-port on "High".
"Alpha Transparency" check box in Real-time render option makes a difference.
I am attaching a simple cube project for testing. Just make sure to switch to "High" for real-time.

it becomes completely transparent (not even a wire-frame) and it does not render at all.
