I use C4D and the process is a pain. In fact I've never got it to work properly. Exporting with a Mixamo skeleton would greatly speed up my workflow. CGDreamsTutorials has a good video on the process in C4D but unfortunately it's not for a full CC character so not always clear which CC bones should be mapped and to where ...
I guess, if the bones can be mapped correctly, it only has to be done once and the profile can be saved and applied to all future CC characters in C4D, but there are next to no CC specific tutorials on how to do it for C4D.I guess, if the bones can be mapped correctly, it only has to be done once and the profile can be saved and applied to all future CC characters in C4D, but there are next to no CC specific tutorials on how to do it for C4D.
My last version was C4D 21 when the Mixamo Control rig was added to the app.
The problem, you describe, is because Maxon has Failed to provide a useful retargeting tool beyond those Horrible “retarget tags”
and no third party has any interest in creating a general purpose retarget plugin for C4D
since the death of the “Cactus Dan” many years ago.
As C4D “refugee” who now uses Blender I do not need a specific “mixamo” format from Iclone
because the FREE blender pipeline tool does the retargeting of actorcore motion for me.
Additionally have other free options to retarget motion in Blender to native blender control rigs as well as Daz figures as plain FK or even rigify rigs
I would imagine that many such options exist for the Autodesk users with Motion builder & Maya
It does not matter where you get your “Mixamo” animations if you Do not have a proper retargeting
option in you importing application.
which is why I am using Blender instead of C4D for animated filmaking
