CyberFybrous (5/13/2022) Enjoying Blender is dependent upon knowing where everything's hidden. Thus, it's all out of the way. That's the beauty of it IMHO. Unlike CC4 and IC8 wherein everything's in your face. You can hide everything in iClone 8 and CC4 and have as much or as little displayed as you wish. Blender may do it by default but the option is still there in iClone 8 and CC4. Just click Window on the Menu Bar to see all the hotkeys which toggle off and on the different panels.

Here's what I would do, quick and easy. See the drag handle on the right vertical edge of the Content Pane? Make it move L/R again, like it did. See the drag handle on the top edge of the Timeline? Make it move U/D again, like it did. Optionally, add a second monitor.

That means nothing to me. The point is that, some panels, whether docked or not end up feeling bloated. The Content panel, for example is bloated. Click on Actor/Character and only a couple items are showing up at a time in there whilst I scroll down. I have two screens, so I've seen all sorts of variations through which to work. 2k resolution at 125% on one screen makes it okay, BUT I end up with tiny tabs and icons in my Windows display. HD resolution at 100% works fine as well. Except, again, I'm left with tiny everything else. The following screen capture MIGHT make it look doable. But on my screen? Those icons at the bottom are tiny. Much like the menu at top.

That's okay. We'll just agree to disagree. At my favored resolution, it's bloated even with dragging of handles. The point of this thread was about complaining and lauding what one perceives as being great and bad. I can make it work just as I always have. BUT, I've got my opinion as to what's not great about these programs, which I've voiced.

Yes, each pane alone lacks finesse. They have that "every tool I own on the bench now" look. They haven't completed the design stage. That's why they can't slide left.

Which is exactly what we were touching upon earlier. Also, do you find it near impossible sometimes to redock a panel with the others? I prefer having them all docked together. BUT, I may very well make more use of my dual monitor set up where these programs are concerned. Too bad one can't take the preview panel and dock that elsewhere. Or is it possible?

The interface has always been my main bugbare with Iclone - I first bought in at version 4 and got a refund because I hated it so much. But I went with V7 and now 8 becuse of the exceptional animation features. Sure you can customise but it is the actual "endless" opening/closing panels that really gets to me and slows down the learning .process and workflow. The flexibility in fact becomes a hinderance.. I have not installed m V8 yet but I bet we do not have multi viewports found in most other software and which i 've been asking for.

Since my first post in this thread I've had a look at CC4. Certain features of CC4, such as FBX export, are inoperative because the interface is too big for the screen. The controls cannot be reached. It looks like there was no QA done at all. It confirms my remark that this is an unfinished build. I don't see any way it can be left as it is. I look very forward to that big first update that will get this show on the road, as it deserves to be. Hopefully RL is putting together a needs assessment as we speak. Meanwhile, I *may* fall back on iC v7.9.

It was like that in CC3 as well. Drove me insane having to scale down my window just to have to rescale back up again after getting to the Export button. As I've mentioned above. If we were able to at least grab onto a corner of the dialogue box to resize it so that I'm able to get to the button then I can live with it.

Any way that works, it doesn't need to be pretty.
