I think you may be judging others knowlage of computers on your own ... I know plenty of people who are good with software but hardly know how to plug in a mouse:D

YES I understand what you are saying .. what I am saying is that poking around in Administrative Tool and Device manager would be like delving into the black arts for some computer users...

Hey All,

Thanks for all the replies and help with this matter.

As soon as I got the response I sent a support ticket, I was hoping maybe that others with Vista may have had the same issue. As for wait for support I am aware of the long weekend and was not knocking support at all. Nor was I knocking any replies to this thread, as many of the posts were very good help and info. And support did reply already this weekend to my ticket and I had linked this thread in my ticket, just so they know the whole story.

As for the codecs I only installed K-lite as IClone gave me codec errors and the can't find file error, and a post in this thread said to install them. On my old system I used them and never had any issues before with them.

Also my comment
Maybe the gods don't want me to have the software, its the only thing that makes sense
was meant as a joke. Thou with a different companies software it was true as they had me send them tons of files and logs..

As for post from Tutor,

I am well versed in the admin tools and use the event viewer to check on almost every error I get with software or hardware, I say almost as sometimes I know what caused the error. And yes there are many errors listed in there since I installed IClone, four days ago if my math is right. For me I have nothing but time to spend on my system and trust me if I don't know something I google and search forums as well as posting support tickets when a big issue come up. I Also do understand about support tickets and long weekends and backlogs. I just hate not trying to rectify the issue myself and/or with the help of other users.

Anyways again I really appreciate all the help and info people have supplied in regards to this thread. I guess I seem impatient to some people but since i can spend 24/7/365 on my computer, I have all the time in the world. I just hate not having things work right of the start, but am also used to Vista causing more issues then I can count.

Just wait for my next post on CrazyTalk 6 animator as it is also giving error. I have been waiting till this software issue is fixed before i post the next. Thou both software mention *.RRA file errors in some directories in the Windows event logs, yet there are no *.RRA files listed in the directories.

System Restore like Windows Safe Mode is a Diagnostic Tool. Apart from taking a System Snapshot on Default dates, it also takes a Snapshot each time you Install/Uninstall a Program, helping you to identify whether or not a particulkar Program is causing conflict.

Windows Safe Mode Runs with only the Hardware Drivers necessary for your Pc's basic functionality. That's why your Monitor's Resolution & colour depth are greatly reduced & Windows appear off-centre & washed-out. By alternating between Safe & normal Mode you can identify if there's a recently installed Hardware device that's causing problems, eg; a Video Card etc.

System Restore Snapshots can eat-up a fair amount of OS  HDD space. Many, like myself have it Dusabled, Restoreing to a previous time can often cause more problems than it solves, anyway. Or, you can Delete old Restore Points, leaving fairly recent ones.

Hi Gren

I used to use Vista with iClone without any codec or missing file problems so I really don't think your issues are with Vista alone. There is obviously something system specific that is causing the problems you are having and the difficult part will be tracking down the cause.

You can check for any replies from Support in your Account. Emails often get filtered as spam or junk so check your account if you are still waiting for a reply to be sure.

I would also like to advise caution of installing codec packs, expecially more than one. I personally would never install a codec pack like K-Lite because I like to know exactly which codecs are installed. Troubleshooting codec issues can be a nightmare so my own preference is to stick to certain video formats and just install the correct codecs for those formats. (eg DivX, XVid).

Hopefully support will be able to get you up and running soon. :)

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the reply and info yet again.

I had little choice but to install K-lite as IClone gave me codec error on everything in the template area, and the codec was part of the issue with the file missing error. I do find it strange as I use my system for video editing have have many programs related to video and audio editing. Avid Studio, Serif, and the list goes on and on. And before anyone asks as they always do all my versions are licensed and paid for. I am on disability for many years so learning and playing keeps me happy. So i do a lot of editing for family and just for fun and just to learn new things. Which is why I got Iclone 4 and then upgraded to pro withen a day and then got most of the other Reallusion software as well.

I am dealing with support currently, and have been giving them screenshots and videos so they can see whats happening. they had me get a program called "installed codec editor", but it won't allow codecs to be disabled, as soon as I close the program or refresh the list the codec(s) are back on. This is not the first issue with software thou, as Poser pro 2010 would not function correctly, and had to return it, but Poser 7 works fine. Also Daz studio software also works fine as does blender.

Anyways as it stands right now IClone is working better but still with a few errors, but much less then before.

Ok i have good news support found the issue causing the codec/missing files in IClone 4 pro on my system.

We have been working on it for a few days and today we disabled the codec "ffdshow video decoder" and all but 1 item is working. And the one item not working the file can't be found on my system. It seems it was the codec that also caused the missing file errors and path errors.

So I think we are good to go at this point.
And again thanks to all who helped me and gave me tips and info.
Now I can play.

Good news - Thumbs-up for iClone Technical Support.

BTW - Although I have K-Lite Downloaded Installer EXE File saved to my Downloaded Program Installer Files Folder, I don't have it Installed on my Current W7  PC. I've a feeling I Uninstalled it on My XP PC for similar reasons. Can't remember. 

The route to CODECs in XP could be found via Device Manager Video/Audio & Games Controllers, but not in W7 & therefore presumably not, in Vista.

I've come-across the culprit CODEC I think fairly recently. I need to check iClone & proDAD's Heroglyph Export AVi CODEC options.
