lunarny (3/15/2018) Dear Mr. Marques: Greetings! I'm new to iClone, and indeed new to the PC world, having been a Mac user for 30+ years. I'm interested in purchasing your course for iClone, but know it is for iClone V6. Is the interface and functionality close enough between 6 and 7 to make it worthwhile for a n00b such as myself? Thanks very much. Jeff DavisJeff greetings, First off, a big apology from myself about such a late reply, I thought I had this thread set to notify me by email, but for some reason I did not get pinged. Not sure why, it is a two year old thread. Anyhow, as to your question about the iC6 Fundamentals Course here are my thoughts. A disclaimer here: as co-creator of the course and indeed the person who actually designed it and presented it I have a certain bias as I get royalty's for every copy sold so it is going to be hard for me to say 'do not buy the course' just as it would be to say 'buy the course'. However, having said that my personal moral compass would not allow me to out right recommend something based purely on my own desire to sell copies of the course. What I would say is this. There are still whole sections of the course that will still be relevant to iClone 7. However it is true that others, less so. An example would be the first module on the UI/Interface. Reallusion have changed the interface quite a bit between 6 & 7. There are new items in the pull down menus and indeed some menu items have been not only moved around but also in some cases move out of the pull-down menu and into a dialog box. So, in this case I would say that the first module may not be very useful to you because of the significant differences you will find. I cannot give you a blow by blow list of differences as it would take considerable time but an example of aspects of the course that would still be useful would be the lighting one from the fact that I teach basic three-point lighting which it relevant to any CGI package so that would still be useful. Also the camera module is still very worthwhile even without the fact that it does not obviously cover the new features of the iC7 cameras like the film back. Sorry I cannot give you a hard and fast answer but if you want to save money then to be honest the RL YouTube channel is pretty good at covering aspects of the software though I will agree that it is un-structured which is not as nice as learning with a project based approach.

I saw a post that Alan Marques was creating a new set of tutorials for Iclone 7. Particularly if you are new to Iclone, it might be worth waiting for the next version.

Thanks very much. Jeff DavisMost iClone 6 functionality applies very well to iClone 7. The user interface is very similar, too. Mostly iC7 has additions such as Global Illumination, and Curve Editor module, and things like that. But for a new person, anything iC6 learning you do will very applicable to iC7 too. P.S. I have no special insite to the specific tutorials you mentioned. I am only speaking to the overall situation.
iClone 7... Character Creator... Substance Designer/Painter... Blender... Audacity... Desktop (homebuilt) - Windows 10, Ryzen 9 3900x CPU, GTX 1080 GPU (8GB), 32GB RAM, Asus X570 Pro motherboard, 2TB SSD, terabytes of disk space, dual monitors. Laptop - Windows 10, MSI GS63VR STEALTH-252, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 (6GB), 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD

Thanks. I tried re-installing Iclone, but it didn't change anything. It looks like the issue is with the base clothes that were used with the characters. I don't own the CC base clothing module, and it appears that if I purchased them the watermarks might go away. I may try that for a couple of the characters.

jollyro (9/28/2016) Hi Allan,hi Shadoesword I had the same Issue and found out, that I need to be connected to the Internet, when you have installed the latest Update and then start IClone. It happened, when we got an Update on our wireless Internet Tower and the Provider shut down our service for half a day. Next day I installed Iclone again with the latest version (after uninstalling) and the issue was gone. By the way, not only the course files where showing watermarks, a lot of my older content did, too.
Hope that gives you a clue.Have a great day! Thomas Thanks for your input Thomas I really appreciate it. I had heard about issues like this but just not experienced them myself. Hope it helps Shadoesword? All the best

Shadoesword (9/28/2016) I have been through most of two of the courses you offered, Alan, and learned a great deal. The lighting course was especially helpful for me.
But, of course, a number of the character assets are watermarked, and not usable. I was wondering if you knew how these characters could be purchased...Jess, Henrietta, and some of the others that are trial versions. I cannot locate them in the Marketplace. Hi Shadoesword, Glad you found the course useful. As to the characters this should not be the case. They were created by myself and a colleague using the base install of Character Creator and provided free with the course and having sent the .iAvatar files back and forth between ourselves while creating the course we never had a watermark DRM issues as there should not be any. There have been a number of reports on the forum previously in connection with content (not for this course) suddenly showing as watermarked when previously it was fine. One solution was a complete un-install and then re-install of iClone and CC. I suggest putting in a support ticket with Reallusion as any sort of DRM thing is outside our control, especially when there should be no DRM in the first place. The course has been out for some time now and this is the first report from a user with this specific problem, so it is a new one on me. Let me know how you get on. Also what version of iClone are you running, Standard, Pro or Pipeline? All the best
