I am still using my 3DX pipeline version to move content into iClone 8. The Export option in the File menu allows you to export with IC7 or IC8 as the target. Just pick IC8 from the Target Version drop down and use the Other destination option to choos a path to your IC8 custom content. I've used it for both props and animated characters. I've also used it to convert.BVH animation files into iMotion.

Yes, there are at least a couple of threads where I talk about how to do this - it's actually dead solid simple (you just copy the characterization files into the right directory). So if you have 3DX with the right characterization files port them over and you'll be fine (they'll appear in a drop down). I guess the only question is: what if you don't have an older version of 3DX and come up with a NEW skeleton? Perhaps CC4 can handle this in some manner, though (there is SO little info about the workings of CC4 I can't even guess).

Auroratrek (7/12/2022) I use 3DXchange to convert my custom mocap bvh to be compatible with iClone. This requires manually remapping the bvh to a compatible skeleton. I've found that Mixamo animations can be just dragged onto an iClone 8 character since it "knows" what it is, but iClone doesn't recognize my raw bvh files I export from Optitrack. Is iClone 8/CC8 supposed to be able to translate these kinds of bvh files?Hi Tim, According to this guy , (who uses his own Xsens mocap rig) it is possible to add new “Characterization profiles” ,from your mocap ,system to Iclone 8 Perhaps check to see if your optitrak system is supported

It is true that CC4 can import models and convert them, what I don't understand is why this feature isn't as fully implemented in iClone 8 where a user has more requirements for scene props than in CC4.:unsure::Whistling:

But who knows it could be back for the IClone 9 "Superpromo Pipeline Booster" version.

Despite its name, Character Creator 4 is capable of importing 3D models. You also define subprops (for wheels for example) like you could in 3DXchange.
