How well does iClone integrate with game design software. Specifically Unity3D? I've seen that Daz Studio has come out with a plugin that reduces polygons from 3D character models that are used in Carara, DazStudio and Poser. Those models can then be imported into Unity3D. 3D models from Daz are available with licenses to be used in game software.
I've owned Poser since the early 90's, but I will say this, iClone has so much more motion content, models are all low poly count and there is an abundance of other content for iClone that I purchased the program about 4 months ago.
I'm a Mac user since 1987, but there is nothing on Mac like iClone. Because of iClone I went out and purchased a Windows computer. It seems to me that iClone would be great to design content for games. Unity3D is really easy to learn and to use like iClone. I have a copy of Unity3d so I know its a great program. If iClone will integrate its content with Unity3D that would make my day.
You can see some of the 3D animation I've done at:

Nothing with iClone yet, but I'm working on it.

The addition of a special iClone Project player which enabled simple "if/and/or" clickable hotspots would certainly start the ball rolling on making a simple adventure story game. Or can the Reallusion Widget thing do that already?
The basic version of Unity is free, but as far as I know it's not "will always be free" like Blender is. I think you'd be more likely to see future iClone integration with Blender's game modules.

I doubt you'll see anything officially supported for using iClone content in games... With the new 3DXChange4 and exporting, it is possible to do so today, assuming you have access to a 3d application. For example, in my own environment, I can export a modified iClone character to an .obj with textures, load up that .obj in my 3D app of choice, Carrara 7 Pro, apply the textures, do some tweaking, re-bone the character than export into a format recognized by the game engine. DXStudio recognizes DirectX .x files, which Carrara exports directly. Supposedly the COllada and FBX exports from C7 wont work with Unity3D, but supposedly their next version 8 is reported to have corrected this, and allegedly loads right up in Unity3D. But since the iClone characters can only export as .obj files, there's no rigging, no animations, so using iCLone for anything other than creating the avatar, using CloneCloth to design a costume for it is not possible. And while I'd like to to see it enhanced, perhaps export as collada or FBX with full rigging and animations, I'm not really going to hold my breath for it...

I thoguht an interactive project or an if and or supported project was a great idea... but apparently, others didn't think it was so hot. It'd be great if the widget could do it though. An interactive project would be great. (iclone as a game engine) if you search something like that, you'll find a post I made a while back... and as you'd see, not everyone likes that idea... most peoplehere wanna make movies.. not games or interactive movies... so once again, us aspiring game creators are left in the cold... sorta.

Not knowing much about game engines, I think one can build an interactive game with iClone and another software package such as Flash. See see Post #50541.

Hm. The link you posted does not exist.... or at least it doesn't work for me. But I understand what you mean I think. (aligning the videos so each one is triggered through user interactions through flash) kinda like DVD games work.

I think the idea of an interactive project would have a broader appeal than "iClone as a game engine". I remember dreamcube's plea and although I didn't oppose it I didn't see the use for it either. However, if it is presented as the possibilitiy to create interactive content in iClone, the appeal would be broader because educational applications come to mind and that might even be of interest to RL.

Hmmm good call. Let's go with that... and now that I think about it.. that is very useful. I'm not a teacher, but I can think of ways that Ican use it to explain things more easilly to people. Sure, maybe you can't make an FPS game... but simple point and click would be a good start. Like I said, the scripts are already there... that's proven when you go into director mode. So I don't think it's that far fetched.

When Unity3D first became available it was for Mac users only and had about 3 to 4 employees. It's player only worked on Macs and there was nothing like the iPhones or iPads. Mobile devices were pretty primitive then. Now Unity 3D has about 70 employess, its player works on both Macs and Windows, the program now works on Windows, its player works on Windows, some of the best selling games in the Mac apps store are made with Unity and now there is iPhone and iPad. Its big time growth.
The great thing about Unity is that a lot of its functions are drag and drop. Just like iClone. There are so many similarities and ease of use between Unity and iClone. So come on iClone team up with those nice Unity guys and you'll conquer the world. And the rest of us even if what we started out to do was just make movies will be able to make movies and games too. With Unity and iClone working together we'll be able to make the best movies and the best games.

VERY TRUE! I can buld my levels in iClone and export them to anywhere! Note that I mean use 3D blocks to build them.. that isn't against the rules is it? When you export suff, do textures go with it or no?
