Hi Everyone,
A little confused here as I am new to this product line.
I want to create a realistic talking head for some tutorial videos.
I have downloaded the trial version of CrazyTalk 8 and it seems like it will do the job I am after.
But I note that it is a legacy product with no future upgrades, should I instead be purchasing the Character Creator?
Does this do the same thing or just focuses on creating the actual character without the ability to animate and add a voice over?
Any advice guidance would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Rodney

Hi Rodney

Which will be best will really depend on how realistic you need and how much you are willing to spend.

Character Creator 3 with its plug-in Headshot will allow you to create ultra realistic human characters BUT you will also need iClone 7 to do the animation. With these two products you will be able to animate full bodied characters (CrazyTalk only animates heads) and set up full scenes along with complex lighting setups and effects.

CrazyTalk 8 on  the other hand is a few years old now so the 3D heads it creates will not look as good as those from Character Creator 3 + Headshot. However, it does have some plus points especially for newcomers to animation software. CrazyTalk 8 is much quicker to learn than CC3 and iClone. It also allows 2D head creation which means you can animate anything from people to animals to even stuffed toys or fruit just from a single photo.

So if you want the best looking characters and are willing to invest the extra money and the time required to learn the software, then CC3 + Headshot + iClone 7 will do that for you. But if you want an easier to learn product and be able to generate nice talking heads in just a few minutes, then CrazyTalk 8 may be the better option to start with at least.
