This is why you can record the visemes along with the facial Mocap and just keep the tongue. This is the solution for FaceWare, which predates Live Face in iClone.
Nobody is claiming that the tongue is not important. I don't use Live Face so I can't get worked up about it...:PThe tongue we are speaking of is not the subtle viseme alone, but the full range of blendshape tongue. Currently it is not controlled by Faceware or Live Face.
If it were, you would be able to extend the tongue out as is able, and has been shown in the the Unreal LiveLInk application. It is reading the Tongue and can apply blendshape control to it, to the point where you can stick your tongue out.
But I thank you and know what you mean, iClone can approximate a working tongue position through viseme. What we are driving at here would be a full range of direct blendshape tongue control made possible by the actual iPhone ARKit.
