Hi there :)
I believe I have brought this up before, but with the advancements in motion capture for Cartoon Animator, I thought I'd bring it up again.
Stock mo-cap files are available in BVH and FBX formats -  I've found some here: [Link Removed By Moderator]
Apparently, these are compatible with iClone. What I'd like to know is: Will there be any plans with future updates to CA4 to include the ability to import motion files and apply them to your 2D characters?
If this is not in your plans (they should be)... this sort of flexibility might be very useful to people who either 1. do not have compatible hardware for live mo-cap or 2. find the equipment purchase to live mo-cap cost-prohibitive. If a CA4 user could import a stock BVH or FBX file and apply it to their character, it would allow more users to enjoy animating with "real" motion.
I'll look forward to any replies on this subject.
Respectfully,
Kimber

Hi Kimber

Firstly I have removed the link you posted. The owner of this particular website is a banned member of the forum so I would urge caution before purchasing. It is of course up to you but I would do a Google search on the name before parting with any money.

Regarding mocap files, it is currently possible to import mocap files but this can only be done via our 3D software iClone. iClone can save motion clips in a format (.rlMotion) that can then be imported into Cartoon Animator 4 and used with G2 characters.

However, later in the year we do have an update coming that will allow motion clips to be used with G3 characters as well. Please see the video below for an example of this in action.

OMG YES!!! THIS is what I want!

Regarding the link I previously posted, I apologize. I was only using it as an example to illustrate that there ARE "stock motions" that one could acquire. Thank you for providing a heads-up for that particular vendor.

A while back, (like last year sometime) there was a package of iClone dance motions on sale in the Reallusion Marketplace. The price was hot, and I would have snapped them up in a heartbeat, but I could not be sure that they would or could translate to a 2D figure in CA4.

The notion that this is going to be an upcoming feature is very exciting to me.
Thank you kindly, for sharing!
Now I'm going to watch that video again :)
