this is another software that's caught my attention - nothing for iclone, but you can use things from iclone with it ....ie props and videos that caught my attention because it would be easy enough to make a 3D environment to pass out with music and videos - 3D art in every sense of the word! :w00t: I'm not into game developing, but they way they made this software is easy enough to make a quick standalone game that doesn't need a host software to run....and you can sell the games you make without owing anyone royalties. Right now it's mostly focused on FPS ( everything looks like a wolfenstein 90's mod lol ) I really like the developers and the community, the one main thing that has me hesitant from jumping in though is that they focus on the direct x format, they added the 3DS format...but that still doesn't cut it for me. The software is 19.99 but not many free tools to convert to x format, but they do have big plans for the software so who knows what the future holds. http://store.steampowered.com/app/266310/

I spent so much time researching this, that I got it lol all i can say is I played the demo games that come with it and was having a ton of fun! it's not state of the art graphics yet, but it does have good / standard graphics - much like guildwars , it's not photorealism, but stunning from all the artistic content none the less....so the graphics part can be overlooked with good level / content design...make it artsy! it looks very simple, but from what everyone says, has space to do advanced scripting and they have their own shops where you can buy or sell scripts and props! :w00t: Right now the only mode is FPS ( first person shooter mode ) - but they plan to add space adventure, fantasy and other genres in the future .... The software is still in pre-release / development mode It's like the iclone of game development ....you can make a game in a few hours and have a stand alone version ready to distribute / give away free or sell - even more cool is you can make 8 man multiplayer games that can be hosted by steam! :w00t: :w00t:

well swoop, i'd be lying if I said I didn't think of you with this!! :w00t: i'm excited - and plan to make games that will make you want to write fancy scripts for game guru! I plan to make real simple games though, i'm thinking i'll approach it like Anet does, their game is great ( I can't match their mechanics ) ...but just walking through Guildwars 2 is amazing from all the art and landscape and that may be more within my reach. kill zombies and stuff while you walk through a pretty park or castle lol... So i'm thinking of this more as interactive art than a game.....but you...know how to take it another level!

GameGuru is crap. I backed it in 2013, and the progress it's made since then is negligible. The editor itself is horrible to work with. Unless you want the most basic of basic game mechanics, it most certainly will require coding with Lua. It's model format is .x which is outdated and obsolete, not even supported by the company who developed the .x format initially, Microsoft.

There are much better paths to creating your own game than this early access and severely limited software. It really doesn't offer anything not already do-able in a myriad of other game engines. This is why I said, "I'll be Tight-Lipped" about this.
Give Ricky a break, he won't read, let him have fun. It's difficult enough to speak to him about coding. Encourage him to make a game.... ANY GAME! :D
Personally, I can't stand a first person camera! It ERKS Me! I go out of my way to build a robust third person camera. (Much more difficult, be the gaming experience is magnified 10 fold!)
I'm not a big fan of first person perspective either. I never thought it'd happen, I actually agree with something sw00000p said... Surely the Earth is on it's way to it's doom... However, even though it's crap today (GG), I'm keeping my eye on it nonetheless because the devs have some pretty big plans for it. Plans, that if implemented, may make it worthwhile...

it's perfect for my needs though - i really don't want to make games ....but this software makes it easy enough to make a simple yet amusing video game , in playing with it for a few hours, I started seeing all the flexibility it would give me to custom design audio, props and even video content. It also allows me to publish this as a stand alone product that can be played on steam and solo play. That's a powerful marketing product for a person who is a dance producer looking to reach out to the gaming community ( that has to do it all himself ) before I got into music and all that, I got accepted to an Ivy league school to be a computer science major - I have the capacity to understand this advanced stuff ....but as is, running my label ...doing freelance work, doing music promotions, learning what I've learned in 3D ... I literally work 7 days a week...and sleep an avg of 6 hours. I never planned to design games, but i have been a gamer longer than the internet existed lol....as soon as gaming came online, I was in the first major online pvp tournament ever, and we won to boot! lol....... So for me this is the perfect toy for someone that really doesn't want to design games in the first place .....in fact ...it doesn't get better than this from my view lol - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if someone got a psychic message saying "This would be perfect Ricky's needs!" But I can imagine how bad it is to someone with advanced coding knowledge. It's not for that audience. --- and just to finish this story - i didn't do the computer science major, because my mom died like a month after I started - I couldn't focus on anything after that.

sw00000p (4/12/2015) Sorry about Moms... lost mine back in 01!:crying:
But, that game engine is strictly for noobs. Anyone with an ounce of Real game creation experience wouldn't waste the time. It's too limited!
I for one want to: TELLMy STORY!
Unity gives you this opportunity for Free. Yeah, UDK has a free version... but the Coding is extremely hard for ME! C++ :w00t: The BIGDADDY OF CODING! ____________________________________________________________
This game engine is great to learn from and in the future... You may be able to tell your story...
BUT NOT TODAY!
One could achieve a lot with UE Blueprints without getting into C++. But a programming background helps.

In late Eigties and early ninties, we had ICON AUTHOR and AUTHORWARE for Multimedia Development. Adobe did not do much with Authorware after Flash became the in thing. Now the Visual Scripting is back in a big way.

Now the Visual Scripting is back in a big way. Are you a programmer? I have done all kind of stuff depending on the need. As an entrepreneur, I had to design systems and keep under the cover till the time it was kind of ready for the market. So I did the initial programming for most of my products. Once the production template was set I hired people to expand on the idea and deliver the full system. I am good at designing production tools and system that would help me keep the cost low. With varied experience I can design product or system that can differentiate itself. Not a traditional programmer. But I have delivered end to end product for my own business. And I try to deliver projects with a different language every time. Started with Paul Allen's OPENSCRIPT 1989 / 1990 or so. Then Borland Delphi....These days, I am onto NodeJS as a platform for my IOT projects. I will do the basic platform, then hire people to expand it. Unreal Engine definitely has caught my attention. The biggest challenge for me at this moment is to create a JS based State Machine for my IOT projects. I need to own the IP.
