I created this character for a project I'm currently working on. I needed a cyborg, so instead of turning to Max or Maya I decided to make my best effort using iClone CloneCloth and 3D blocks. The initial result was pleasing and I will continue to work on detailing the character further for the iClone project.
CloneCloth was used with combination of diffuse and opacity maps. The 'Skin' is opacity mapped to create the cyborg's muscle tissue panels and chest plate. Accessories and props were linked to the character bones to create the illusion of a metal skeletal system. When linking props or accessories to characters you can select any bone in the character skeletal system to link an object to, so if you want to create an 'arm bone' with a metal bar you can simply make the metal bar using a 3D block and then assign the metal bar a 'link-to' the character upper arm bone. Accessories or props linked to character's bones will move with the character motion.
Creating characters with iClone is best approached with a vivid imagination. If you are new to character design then you must consider learning how to use the texture maps to you advantage. Texture maps, (Diffuse, Opacity, Reflection, Glow, etc..) will allow you to create the illusion of greater detail with models. It's not always necessary to have an extensive background in 3D development or design to exercise a good idea inside iClone and create a character that fits the needs of a project. iClone's character design capabilities are like the carpenter's tools and it's all how you swing the hammer.
