Is there a place where I can find Actual tutorials? All of the tutorials I can find only tell you what can be done with the programs, not how to do it step by step which is what I need. The manual is likewise of no apparent use in this regard. All I need to be able to do is create a virtual studio and insert my pop video footage into it. This is very simple stuff for this program but I can not find useful instruction. Any help would be appreciated.

Michael,

Several of us do write up or make video tutorials that are indeed step by step, and cover various aspects of iClone functionality. Sometimes they're referred to as "play in a day". :)

My tuts are largely sci-fi in nature, but sci-fi I find is a good medium with which to demonstrate certain aspects of iClone. (Although I did do another tut based on "Bad Teacher" :) ) You will find many of my tuts here in the forums, and also in the iClone 4 forums. :)

Respectfully,
Friendly neighborhood Martok21122

iClone's now a huge Program with many different Applications.

I "think" there's a separate purchased Virtual Studio Content/Program or whatever Pack. Those Packs usually have a separate limited step-by-step instruction File somewhere.

I think I've seen Pop Video somewhere in the iClone User Interface (Probably Export).

There is however a step by step instruction in the iClone Program User Manual for Dragging & Dropping a Video onto an Object & have a Character performing in front of the Video.

My apologies for being vague, but the Useless User Manual, Video Tutorials & Reallusion Website are vague (A matter of many complaints since Version 1).

IMO, your best bet would be to Post a Screenshot of what you have in iClone ViewPort (Previewscreen), explaing exactly what you want to do. Then maybe someone can give you instructions re; how to do it.

I have the vitrual studio add on pack.  I cant post screenshots really because I have not been able to figure out how to do much of anything. All I need to do is create a simple virtual studio and have the ability to insert my actors in it. I am seriously considering the 30 day money back guarantee at this point because I am incredibly frustrated with this product and the unbelievable lack of support. From the videos that I saw prior to puchasing this, my project should be the easiest thing this software can do, but I can not find instructions for how to do anything even close to it.

You'll have to wait for someone who has Virtual Studio to see your Post & give your specific instructions.

If you send Reallusion Forum Rep Peter Edwards a Private Message referring to yourThread,

I expect he'll be able to help you.

Good luck:)

My company wants to use the virtual studio for training videos, webinars and things of that nature. I just need to set up a virtual studio that I can insert my popvideo videos into and produce a good looking video.

Basically what is shown here http://www.reallusion.com/contentstore/csproduct.aspx?contentid=AIC400DIENU050120091103001&MenuItem=ic_scene&Type=Props

In the lower right corner are links on how to add videos and anchor. Did you look at those???

Edit: Also look here http://www.reallusion.com/popvideo/ for creating the green screen for the anchor

Yes I looked at them. I am not trying to come off as sarcastic but Step 1 Set up your Studio, Step 2 Insert your video is not useful instruction.

This is kind of like a tutorial for flying a jet being: Step 1 Take off, Step 2 Land.

Now, I've not used Virtual Studio, michael, but, there are a couple of techniques to insert characters into a scene.

One is to just double click on your selected character in your inventory (or click on the "Apply" button, the third of the three buttons that appear below your Content Manager on the right side of the screen.) This will import your selected character to position X,Y,Z=0 on the grid. Be careful when using this particular method. You need to move that character off the zero point on the grid, and place it elsewhere, because if you try to import a second character, that second character will "replace" the first one. So, just make sure you move imported characters out of the way by a couple of grid spaces when importing others.

Second method is to drag a character from the content manager onto a position (usually you can place the character in the desired location) on the grid. Now, when dragging a second character into position, take care that you do not end up sliding the new character somewhere near the first character where it may illuminate the first character's "bounding box". If the bounding box illuminates, that first character will be replaced just like if you tried to bring in multiple characters at X,Y,Z=0 using the double click method. IF you illuminate the first character's bounding box, just slide the new character's icon somewhere else (shouldn't be too far of a move :) ) until the first character's bounding box disappears. :)

So, ultimately, the bottom line is: just bring your characters in at different points in the studio or on the grid, and just make sure you don't bring them in while an already imported character's bounding box is lit. Hope this little hint helps with some of those headaches...and yes, I've had a few of those such headaches too. :)
