I am trying to use iClone to generate a VR 180 SBS video. Products such as iClone can generate a Flat SBS video where each of the eyes' video is on one half of the total video. This results in a 3D video that can be played on a flat surface (similar to going to a movie theater to see a 3D movie). However, VR Headsets support a 180 SBD and 360 SBS video format which allows for greater immersion because the video is wrapped around the user. In these video formats the content of each eye is warped in a spherical manner. If watched without VR headset the video is still SBS but the content of each eye is deformed in comparison to flat SBS video. I have been searching for conversion software that would allow me to take the Flat SBS videos generated by iClone and apply the necessary distortion to convert them into either 180 SBS or 360 SBS videos. Ideally I am looking for a free solution but so far I have not even been able to find paid solution that do this. Does anyone know of software that can be used to do this? The image below is what I am talking about. In the below 180 SBS video you can see the image has been warped from a flat SBS video. The snowboard, for example, is not straight, it is curved because of the 180 SBS warping which is necessary for the video to display correctly when the images is wrapped around the user in a VR headset. 87% of original size (was 577x323) - Click to enlarge

You can render a 360 video in iClone, but not in stereo at the same time. You might want to try creating two cameras side-by-side and rendering two 360's. Then stitch them together in a video editor.

The key point is, does the 360 video do a flat video or the fisheye video. The stereo option in iClone seems to do a flat video which is good for Flat 3D videos but not 360 or 180. I will test. Thanks.
I did find a software called 3DCombine which seems to have that feature. The feature is aimed at taking two 2D videos and calculating the depth and making it a SBS video with the fisheye option but it looks like you can choose not to apply the depth algorithm and thus combine the two eyes vides of an 3D video and get the fisheye version. It cost $45 single license or roughly half that per year.

Skip the stereo, as it is not what you need. Render two 360's from two cameras side-by-side to create left and right views.

Is the 360 Render a new option in iClone 8? I only have iClone 7 and I don't see any option to render 360? I could have sworn I had seen an option to render 360 somewhere but I don't see it in the Render panel.

Doh! I was looking though the Render panel while Stereo Vision Output was still on which disabled the Panorama option and thus I missed it. Thanks.

I found the setting an tried it out but it does not seem to do the 360 / 180 VR Euirectangular or Fisheye transformation. It seems to be intended for Flat 360 3D projection. Blender seem to have support for multiple VR transformations including Euirectangular and Fisheye but that would be a pipeline that does not include iClone since iClone does not export Blender format (and if it did it would likely be Pipeline as opposed to Pro which I don't have).

Hmm. I wonder if it would be possible to use the Python Open API to transcribe the flat 3D SBS output to a Euirectangular or Fisheye format.
