Hi, Affinity designer's create flow have a little different from other software. First, you should click "save as" button and choose the below folder C:\Users\"Your name"\AppData\Local\Temp\CTA5Temp\SVG_Cache or C:\Users\"Your name"\AppData\Local\Temp\CTA5Temp\PSD_Cache (it depends on which type of file you would like to import) Then, go Back to Affinity and choose the "export" button, and you can create the object.
Note: We are changing our manual now because of the change of affinity designer. Sorry for inconvience.

Sorry, but I don't get it. A bit frustrating, to be honest. In the tutorial I watched, it goes so smoothly... The export button is for exporting the result of my work in Affinity Designer. But I hoped I will be able to work in Affinity (with my project open) and see the results in CA5 as I change the Affinity Designer project, without having to export it. Isn't it possible?

I think this is caused by Affinity Designer 2 switching its architecture so its runs inside a sandbox. So no other program can access the files. This is a way to increase security a lot, but hinders communication with external programs.
But I'm not completely sure.

I'm using Affinity Designer 1. So I still wonder if there is a workaround to sync AD version 1 with CA5. "Then, go Back to Affinity and choose the "export" button, and you can create the object." - this doesn't sound like syncing. Just exporting an object and manually opening it in CA5. But then, I have to repeat this process with every minute change I introduce to my drawing in Affinity. I don't mind Adobe Illustrator, But I'm an amateur, and I'm not going to pay a subscription (I think Adobe products are overpriced, unless you earn money with these tools or you can deduct the costs from the tax). I prerfer Affinity Designer which is both great and affordable. I wish we could sync it somehow with CA5. Or maybe there should be some information, to save the users some frustration, that it works only with Adobe Illustrator.

It looks like Affinity Designer completely locks the file handle for every file it opens which doesn't allow other programs to access the file during the same time. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/104288-file-handle-locks/Can you test this by trying to open an image file in Affinity first and then trying to open it in another program? Can you change the file and save the changes with the other program while it is opened in Affinity Designer?
