Ok... here goes... but I don't know why I'm wasting my time posting about it, or anything else...
... The quality of the forum has degraded since the good old days 10+ years ago, when people actually helped and supported each other...
Most of those good folks are gone now...
When I ask for help, it's usually ignored now...
... and since I'm not posting clips of robots, aliens, or jiggly bosoms, all my clips are soundly ignored...
Anyhow, just in case anyone gives a damn, I just discovered a $99 tool called Crazy Bump that creates Normal maps, available for a free trial.
Since I don't use a lot of highly complex programs I find this useful.
Hello? Anybody?
Crazy Bump

Guilty as charged.

I do admit to viewing your posts, as I also do with quite a lot of posts from other users, but I attempt to avoid padding my post count with comments such as "Nice", "Good work" or other simple comments - even when that is about all that I could contribute to the post content.

Your style and signature remind me very much of a user from the past who also did quite a lot of excellent line art work with iClone evolving around a "Walt". :Whistling:

I have been using ShaderMap over the years. The current price for a personal license is $29. In addition to normal maps, it creates other PBR-related maps.

The CrazyBump website tries to be kind of cute, I don't really care for that. It hardly provides any useful information. Also, from what I can gather the latest version is from 2010, so I'm wondering if any development is still going on.

As the answering questions, I see many being addressed by a group of knowledgeable users. Sometimes a question may get missed, perhaps on-one has an answer?

I don't know about the Cartoon Animator area; that seems less active.

ShaderMap is not only free if you don't need PBR, it gives finer results, too!

I still use old good NVIDIA plugin for Photoshop most of the time.
The advantage is, that while working on texture I can make dozen changes and rebuilt normal map right away without jumping to another app, going back and force.
