I bought it and can't for the life of me can't understand how to apply it to a prop.
I've tried attaching it to an object and I've tried selecting an object as a parent from the modify tab. I've watched Reallusion's tutorials on Particle FX and it's clear that this one is a bit unique.
Any one have any insight into how this works? This will be crucial to a project I'm working on and I'd be grateful for any insights.

I’m kinda a newbie myself, but the way I work around it is first record the scene without the prop (Scene A), then re-record the exact same scene with the prop added (Scene B). Next bring both into my video editor, stack them one on top of the other. Then just fade in and out.
