Hello there, I have just discovered Character Creator 3 this week and have been playing with the trail to see if it was worth the investment.

So far I found the software fantastic and was leaning into aquiring it. However as I get further in the tutorials I decided to test my knowledge and start building a character from scratch and the skin process made me quite confused and worried. First, I noticed some skins like the skins found in the Special and Repack for CC+ are not editable and have eyebrows already baked? Why?

And something really caught my attention is the fact it wont let me change the character linked skin into a imported image of my own? The trial version gives me a warning saying I need a premium plugin and thats really.. well, not cool. Am I doing something wrong or the CC3 requires a payed plugin to do something like this?

Thanks!

The trial version will not let you change textures. There are 2 versions of CC3. There is a stand alone Pipeline version that lets you export
FBX CC3 characters to other 3D programs and bring them back to CC3. And also the Pipeline version allows you to make your own clothes
and use skin weights to bind bind them to your character.
If you buy iClone, you get a free CC3 add on that lets you send your character to iClone only and back to CC. You can make unlimited characters with
the free version of CC3. You send your character to iClone, and that is where you do your animation. With iClone, you can build sets, and have sound, and do a
whole production. I have the free add on of CC3 and can only do poses and no sound inside CC3.

Ahhh I see, thats great then! Thanks for the answer! I had the feeling it could be the trial version, but since the warning message says I need the Premium Skingen that made me wonder..

Im considering the Pipeline version indeed, I wont be doing animations for now, just game characters, so IClone wont be handy to me. But I will definitely need the freedom to export back and forth because Im planning to use Blender and Substance Painter as part of the workflow, Blender to make clothing and accessories and Substance Painter for outfit texturing/extra skin refinement.

Altho many CC3 plugins are def amazing its outside my budget at this moment, so I have to use other softwares I already own. :)
