I've been grumbling about iClone's inability to import a camera tracked in other software and since it's been a while since I've tried it I thought I'd have another go... so this video shows the benefits of using externally created cameras and 'real footage'.  While making the video I discovered the reason iClone is incapable of successfully integrating CG with 'live action' plates.  The culprit is iC's inability to work at a specific frame rate... the video makes this clearer.

with that camera shot, you could do this instead.

in AE-hitfilms-nuke etc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlCSmKAPC5Y&t=1s

your method above would be better suited for orbit or complex camera moves
and still could be achieved taking the fbx in the opposite direction out of iclone instead.

you didn't stress enough that the plate you used
was also used to match the avatar lighting to the video.
great...

i saw your old channel and you used to use element 3d and iclone
together

Regarding MP4 playback in iClone not working: I'm using WMV instead for those purposes as I had problems with MP4 too. Of course, it will not resolve the frame rate differences you mention.

I've compared a solved camera in a few programs; Maya 2014 & Marmoset Toolbox 3..
The focal length seems to be different in iClone. I've submitted this as a bug report on the Feedback tracker. https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Issue/Can-Import-a-camera-with-a-set-scale-but-not-for-Objects-Please-allow-the-camera-to-include-geometry-with-scale-used-for-VFX-reference-scene-matching Personally I need this to be fixed for commercial work. If you really need this to work too maybe the issue can be escalated to the developers.
