Glad the announcement is finally out.  Downloading and installing my Live Link plugin right now.  I guess I'll be moving my project to Unreal... and learning Unreal. lol  Thank Reallusion!

Thank you Reallusion.  Yes I'll need to learn and see if this will work with my current pipeline but I'm excited to find out.
Pretty awesome so far :)

well,  I guess I was half way there,  because as a non game developer I now have access to a new render engine for iclone, from a plug in i would have not otherwise purchased, so I can't complain......much ...those complexities, my poor poor complexities!  All the same, Thank you.

I suppose this could mean some good opportunities for Iclone script coders to help mitigate some of the calculus and quantum phsyics needed to do a simple render in UE for non game developers. If y'all could make a "render now" button,  that'd be great!

Once again those using iClone for filmmaking, the original intended purpose of the software, are being denied improvements in the native render and are being "nudged" once again towards an outside render solution. I have no desire to even contemplate learning a Game development software just to get improved renders, but then again I'm only a single customer and the masses appear to be fixed on Games and not films. :crying::(:ermm:

I'm not excited. As much as I'd like to get characters etc into Unreal, I could never justify the cost of the live link, and now when it is free I'm still nowhere near using it... I cannot justify the upgrade price of 3Dxchange 7 Pipeline just to get FBX into Unreal.... Now if Reallusion could make it so  3DX 7 Pro could work, that would be something... I agree with others the move towards the gaming community is to the detriment of iClone movie makers, so from this old guy, thanks for nothing.

I'm not angry at the engine iclone has now , I see things as different,  not better ...what I would like to see in iclone,  is like in blender or poser,  where you can simply switch to different engines inside iclone -  like you can flip the screen to basic iclone,  or indigo,  or UE, or Iray  -  it's not so much changing a fixed engine as much as putting the other engines in a mode that can be viewed in iclone imo.  I been having fun experimenting with non realistic cartoon'ish renders, which are unique to iclones style,  i don't want to lose that just because i'd like more variety...but that's me as an artist that simply wants more options,  the best for one film genre /style may not be the best for another. lo-fi vs high fi

+1

It's time to give iClone's native renderer some real love...  Motion blur, a mirror, volumetrics, opacity fixes, performance improvements...   The recent addition of sub-surface scattering (SSS) was very welcome, but we're still behind the rest of the world.  I would prefer not to complicate my project pipeline by involving 3rd party software.

Anyone who doesn’t like this development should consider a couple of things. Unity and Unreal will both be in the position to take major market share from the conventional 3D companies soon. Reallusion has made a smart and forward thinking move. This will bring them more users which means more money to develop iclone. Most people’s complaints about iclone can actually be solved with unity or unreal or by switching to them. In my opinion this move has worked in reverse, instead of current users moving away from the platform, they have give other platform users a real reason to include the iclone pipeline in their game dev. It will mean major learning, but we’ve all done that before, right? Now I kind of see this platform switch as one of the last since unreal and unity are both pretty close to open source platforms.
