How long would it take my pc to output that video. Is it worth me getting another GeForce GTX 1070 8 GIG (as my motherboard can take 2 graphic cards)?

As for my own experience, the switch from a 1070 to a 1080ti almost doubled the render speeds for me.
I don't know if a second 1070 will do the same (iClone can't render on both cards at the same time to my knowledge).

Iray is different from iClone in that it is a scalable renderer: each added GPU increase the speed. An additional card would close to double the render speed. Important: do not use SLI with the cards.

EDIT: Note that VRAM is shared so you would still effectively have 8 GB for a 1070.

Iray iclone does not support iclone water, iclone popcorn, light tools and few other iclone features, at 1st it didn't even support speed tree.
in my opinion renderman by Pixar should of been used, its one of the best render engines made on the planet and all the top end software
programs use it, its very affordable to. There is not a movie made today without it. its 600 bucks and highly intagradable with most 3d software.
this would of brought iclone to a pro level output. Iray was not designed as an animation engine.

Hi ,

On the matter of compositing I use an older (pre subscription )
version of Adobe Effects however there are other options such as Hitfilm Express
and Davinci resolve and even sony vegas.

Compositing  offers many advantages if you plan to get into VFX
heavy types of animations but it requires some careful pre planning
particularly if you have moving cameras.

No, unless you have very high end NVIDIA using NVLink the memory is not shared. You will be limited by the amount of RAM in the GPU with the smallest VRAM footprint. So if you have an 8GB card and a 4GB card, you will be limited to 4GB. Fortunately, you can get GTX 1070's for pretty cheap off of ebaythese days. I picked up a second Titan X Maxwell GPU with 12GB for $300. With two in my PC, my iray renders are pretty quick.

That's what I meant by shared: both cards have the same content. I believe that to be the correct terminology.
