OK, sorry I am not a good singer and I'm only a basic guitar player but here is my attempt at doing a song video with iClone 7. Also I didn't put too much effort into animating it. Just showing the basics of how I might go about doing what you want to do
I did 2 recordings with audacity. 1 of me playing the guitar. Then I put a headphone on and recorded me singing while listening to the guitar. Then I saved them as 2 files. One for the guitar and 1 for the singing. Here is how it all looks when added to iClone 76% of original size (was 661x19) - Click to enlarge
I don't know if any of this will be helpful to you but I agree with those who have posted suggestions. The way I see it is you might use Audacity to record yourself singing the song while listening to the actual song. Use your singing to get the lip syncing on the characters then when you bring the rendered video into your video editor remove all the sound you used to create the animation in iclone and add the actual music into the video editor. If your recorded singing is the same length as the actual song then as suggested by others everything should line up fine

Thanks for volunteering. Sorry, I did not know that. I was under the impression from how they explained it that Reallusion hires people to answer the questions as tech support. So their tech support is through that portal system only, and everyone on the forum is unpaid and independent from Reallusion. Wow, that is awfully nice of people to do, to give their time for free like that. Thanks. Please, by all means, continue to post on my timelines.

Here's an old "Jem" video I did way back in iClone 4. I spoke the vocal track into my Zoom digital recorder and used that as my avatar's sync reference. I then, of course, replaced that track in my NLE Vegas Pro with the song.
Here's one using the same technique with Toon Avatars. I tweaked the expressions with the Toon Avatar Controller a bit as well if ones spends a bit more time you should get much better results than I did,,,
These last two were done in iClone 7. Same technique with multiple voice tracks for all the avatar's. Still a bit sloppy but As I say if one spent a bit more time ...

Here: https://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/UserEx/QForm.aspx. It's not on the drop-down of the product, so I understand the confusion...

As to Mark's Jem video, it might indeed be better to speak the song in sync, because lip-syncing sung vocals doesn't always work that well, as I'm now finding out. Of course, it's Pinhead trying to sing...:crying:

Yes Job, I found I got much better results just "talking" the vocal parts. Keeping the "timing" good of course ;)
