Its not only voices that are needed, it's important that the voice actors can act out the scene to bring a bit of personality to the performance. Giving characters a "character" is often missing in iclone videos.

Homebuilt computer - Windoze 10, INTEL i9 9900 k @ 5.1 GHz, EVGA RTX 2080 TI XC ULTRA, 16GB 3100 MHz RAM, Asus  Maximus Hero XI motherboard, Sound blaster Z series. iClone6 & 7 Pipeline, Crazytalk 8, Crazytalk Animator 2, Facefilter, Pop video 3, Hitfilm 4Pro, Cubase 8.5 Pro,

It's true that, the only way to get actual quality is to ask a voice actor (friend or not) to do the voices for you.

It's just that, as I said in my first post, I enjoy doing the vocals myself. I used to be in a theatrical group for 5 years, and now it's the first year that I won't be able to be a part of it, due to my job being too time consuming. So playing all the characters in a movie would be a cool substitute for me missing the theater this year, which I love.

Of course, if I am not able to create decent voices, I will hand this over to friends and family. But I 'd love to try first! :)

In that case, watch this video.  He is using morphvox, but he is putting his own skill into it too.  When I heard his voices, it gave me pause.  It might be a good fallback solution for some problems.  Maybe it will solve yours.

Thanks for the link!! This guy is very good!!

I am starting to believe that my microphone has issues. MorphVox doesn't catch all of my voice. Every 3-4 secs it leaves gaps for 1-2 secs and then keeps capturing it.

Might need a different mic to test out this software.

Thanks for the replies everyone!!

Hey, thanks for the reply and the link.

Isn't polly a text-to-speech software though? How do you convey emotion and life in your voice if it's a text-to-speech?

I am worried that I will achieve a good human voice, but lose all the emotion that a normal person can convey with his voice.

Yeah Polly can convey emotions with the right script coding.  Or you can just use existing ones and modify those..  It is in its infancy right now but it has already caught up to voice changer/software that has been suggested in this forum.  You just have to somehow master the program as updates/improvements continue to come along.   You can save the whole thing as an MP3 file when you are done.   It is so far one of the MUST to learn software if you are looking to get as real as it gets so far with MULTIPLE human voices.  You can still use the other free software but so far Polly can create different sound human voices.

You yourself count as well.  Some people out there can change their voices to sound differently with tricks and techniques....no software....just your human voice.

This was very well done, he sounded like a little girl, not really a woman, but I like how he outlined the steps to it.  If you can achieve this, even to a small degree, then an electronic voice change COMBINED with the modified Posture, Accent, and Pitch will give you really good results.  If you can add a touch of the electronic and not have to worry about it doing the heavy lifting, you can emulate the truer sound.  As opposed to if you would strictly rely on the electronic, you will get the doubling and digital artifacts on your voice....But, if you add just a touch, on top of your own self-voice modification, its likely to push it into the convincing zone.  Very similar to the Bloom effect in iClone 7, it's more 'realistic' when not overdone, in that it emulates the real sensory experience in the actual environment.  Too much kills it, that is unless you want it being artificial.

Likewise, take his steps in reverse if you are a woman and you can get a man's voice:
-Larger mouth, speak with back of throat, not front of mouth
-Reduce the blended musicality, more choppy binary staccato tempo
-Lower pitch
-Reduce accented flare of R's and S's

And invert these of your own voice if you are  a man to get a woman's voice.

A compressor or noise gate will also give you a cleaner vocal sound if too much digital artifacting from the pitch shifting of the electronic voice modification.

Cool topic!!!!

To save time, skip to 3:43 for his wrap up and demo, he just waffles on before that.

Amazon Poly is cool, but only a couple of the voices are any good. Oddly there's an English speaking Indian accent voice that sounds very clear. No emotion though in Polly, even with scripting you can't get any warmth or emotion in the voice. Much better to go down the voice changer road, and find a  combination of your own style and distortion.

the best vocal changers are in mac,  with http://www.antarestech.com/ and http://www.uaudio.com/ along with  Apple Logic,  being among the best tools.
Cost effective quick dirty and simple is Morphvox ...and I'm sure a few others have come out with new toys that are just as fun.

The problem with the cost effective versions is their quality isn't good,  many of these sonic changes affect pitch and tonality,  the more expensive process have extra math , parameters and in some cases hardware to process the subtle changes.   The low cost processors just mess with phase, pitch and basic tonality,  basically introducing artifacts and increasing the noise to signal ratio without the extra restoration processes the more expensive softwares use.

The other factor is the voice acting itself,  there just isn't a software in this world that will make Donald trump sound like a real president without him putting some effort into acting the part :w00t:
