Ok, so I tried getting into the advanced settings and playing around with pinning. But I just wasn't getting good results. So I went with my first option. Honestly it looks like the cloth is suspended on an invisible string. But I think it's ok for now.

Thanks again!

I'm it work now, so I can't verify, but I have a scene where a piece of cloth needed to be blown away, revealing an object.

To control this, I used a dummy attached to the cloth and then I "projected" the dummy, which picked up the cloth. I'm just starting to experiment with this stuff so there may be a better way.

Another option to consider is that you can change the physics state of an object in the time line which may allow you to control when the simulation starts.

Again, this is just from memory; I'll have to check tonight.

Try using a cloth that has "pins". Pin it to a dummy prop that you can animate in the arc you need.

Alt-Sift-S calls up a dialog box where you can set the pins.

I'm trying to simulate cloth flying through the air in an arc and landing on a subject.

I have tried this with FLEX BASE > SquareCp. I can get the cloth to fly the way I want it to, but it does not obey other static physics objects, it goes right through, making a challenge of creating the appearance the cloth actually has contact with the object.

I have tried PHYSICS PROPS / CLOTH > Cloth_32x32. This will obey other static physics objects, but I cannot control WHEN in the timeline the simulation starts - even by dragging the physics handlebar for the object in the timeline - and HOW it operates - moving between key frames in this case. The simulation starts at the first frame of the timeline and only works by falling to the ground.

Am I missing something? :D
