Sadly I’m already on the last of three rows. The project participation was good, but sadly we had a couple people run into unfortunate circumstances. Hopefully we’ll see them participate in the next project.
I (and others) always say the best part of the Pinhead projects is the participation. And it is so true. I have genuinely ENJOYED and APPRECIATED each and every project. The variety is always so amazing; both in terms of technical approach (2D, 3D, camera work, editing, etc.) and storytelling (comedy, drama, and everything in between).
So without further ado…
Here are my comments for “Row 3”…
Mr. & Mrs. Pinhead by 3D Storyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlJia-KLXgsYou have some high standards to live up to, based on prior work we’ve seen. Let’s just say you delivered once again.
I liked the black-and-white flash back at the beginning. When Pinhead gets dragged away, and his arms move out, it shows a wonderful attention to detail.
The opening credit sequence was stunning.
I liked the way you “smudged” Alura’s skin, making it dirty. Her big “escape move” was really cool. Both the move itself, and the change between real-time and slow-motion. It was very well done.
“Swipe to blow”? An app to explode camel bombs? That was funny. And the camel head landing right by Pinhead after a pause, complete with one last bleat, was pretty funny.
Okay, it’s time to talk about your spin-off of Mr. & Mr. Smith. The whole concept was brilliant and excellently executed.
I loved your music. It was very effective and appropriate.
Line of the day… “Female assassins are hot.” Followed by several other contenders, such as, “I knew she was feisty,” and “Katniss Everdeen?” and “She has a nice pair of… shoes,” and of course, “(Pinhead asks) Where did you hide that? (Alura replies) Wouldn’t you like to know?”
Was that a bat? Oh yeah, Pinhead’s wicked with a bat, isn’t he?
I like your dialogue that tied in with the original movie. The way he calls her, “Baby” and the references to knives and cooking. Truly a delight for fans of the original without being “in the way” or confusing to those who have not seen the original.
Thanks for a great entry.
Kidnapped by jlittlehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wWnFdsbkMgAre you sure this is your first Pinhead entry? It was great! You sure found a creative way to reference a prior project, which was a real tribute to that project since you hadn’t participated in it.
I’ve commented on funny lines for other entries, especially some funny “villain” lines. But your phone conversation with Pinhead and the villain make me laugh every time. Each time the phone rings you just wonder, “What’s going to happen this time?”
Best line: “Or else!” Lots of lines vying for second place.
I loved Pinhead driving through the desert, looking for the lamp. Just when you figure he’s done, he comes driving past again. Sometimes you have to do something “too much” to make a joke out of it, but you don’t want to overdo it and ruin the fun. You got it just right.
The whole idea of tricking the villain to not have his wish overheard was a strong of absolute brilliance. Pinhead and the genie collaborating; who would have guessed? And Pinhead even got his place fixed up as a gift; that was a nice touch.
So Pinhead was breaking Alura’s things, just so he could go to her place to fix them? Sly dog. I’m so happy Alura has noticed him and appreciates him now. Holding hands at the end. Awww, that’s so sweet.
Thanks again for participating, and I’m already impatiently looking forward to your next video.
The Measure of a Man by Justavikinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n23MJ3jaKtMShould I comment on my own video? Oh sure, why not.
My number one thing I’m happy with is that I was able to pull off (I think) the concept of using some of my favorite music to help tell the story. It made for some interesting challenges in the writing, but that was part of the fun.
There are three animations I’m most proud of. One is Alura interacting with the Villain, such as when he holds her hand to his heart. Another is Pinhead on the ledge, especially going around the corner and his foot slipping. The other is when Alura gets up to crawl to Pinhead after the hit-and-run incident. (The “crawling” segment is where I had a crash while saving, so I had to redo most of that a second time, and I think parts of it were smoother the first time, but I’m still pleased with it.)
Favorite line? Maybe when Viking says, “Just move on,” and "Let the other dude have her." I’ve had good “shock combined with laughter” reactions to that.
I could fill pages with “critique” but I wanted to keep these posts focused on the positive, so I’ll apply that same standard to my entry as well (until after the voting).
Thanks again to everyone. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every entry. You should all be very proud of your work.
