I always feel like every entry deserved pages of praise (and we all know I'm capable of typing that much). It's also hard to type the same amount for each entry, but due to varying lengths and other considerations, it's impossible to type the same number of words for each entry. But that doesn't necessarily imply that I liked one video more than the other.
Here are my comments for "Row 2"...
Pinhead in the One Million Dollar Man by RB3006https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJpzahRY05QThis is another entry with beautiful sets highlighted with very nice lighting. As I've mentioned multiple times before, that is something I've really come to appreciate. I didn't get it done in my project, but maybe next time.
I really enjoyed the “title overlays” that are inserted from time-to-time. Very amusing, and they add a very fun and lighthearted style to the video.
Lots of nice little details, like the mice crossing the street and Pinhead nervously wiggling his fingers (1:35).
He looks much more manly riding the scooter in this movie than he does in mine. Maybe it’s the tuxedo and James Bond music.
You sure put in a lot of background characters. The really enhanced the scenes. Lots of wonderful props, too, like the roulette wheel and things on the desks in the casino office.
I still say “Junior” is the creepiest and most disturbing bad guy in Project 8. And speaking of disturbing, I have to admit Pinhead’s conscience “Waltraud” sort of grew on me.
Pinhead picking out an outfit to wear (9:30-10:00) was a riot, especially his final selection.
The pool table was a nice addition, especially when it distracts Pinhead from him mission. He’s such a Pinhead.
And a romantic ending. A great ending to a great entry.
Be Careful What You Say by The Mythical Dragonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDlGP6TheiMThe number one thing I have to say is… this is one of those videos you have to immediately watch a second time. The revelation that Pinhead is Alura’s father was so touching, and that makes the video so different to watch the second time through. As a parent, I found it to be very touching and had to immediately show it to my wife. Then I had to email my daughters and tell them to watch it.
Specific moments of delight begin with Pinhead “Singing in the rain. “La la la.”
All the voice acting was wonderful, yours included. All your kids should be very proud of their contribution. (I think your villain has the second-best evil laugh in the competition. The funny thing about my villain is he really laughs like that in normal conversation, and that scares me now.)
Lots of great writing. I really liked the contrast between the villain’s “narration” and Pinhead’s klutzy behavior. “Are we talking about the same Pinhead? He couldn’t find his way out of a cardboard box.”
The tie-in with Lord of the Rings was very well done. The “most precious” ring was very funny. You even had the right “look” for the titles.
And then of course when Pinhead saves Alura it is very touching. Alura crying over him after the explosion is very emotional, and very well acted by your daughter.
Perdu est Disparu (Perdu is Missing) by Ahroohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vjBKdLsoW4I appreciate your conviction regarding violence against women. As the father of three grown daughters I can understand that.
Thank you for keeping 2D Pinhead alive. Your entries are always appreciated, and I know I am not alone in looking forward to them every time.
You sure did write a mystery of international scope. I like your cast of unique and interesting characters. Nice music choices, too. They really enhanced the various settings. That was nicely done.
I like the way Pinhead gets in over his head, trying to masquerade as a dog groomer, and that shivery dog in the background makes me laugh every time. Alura was quite clever to make Pinhead’s grooming disaster look like a new fad.
You also did a wonderful job with all the costumes. You duplicated Alura’s “Project 8” shirt, and even Pinhead’s dog-grooming shirt had his logo on it.
A Blast from the Past by RogReadhttp://vimeo.com/99423485Ah, Roger, a truly classic 2D Pinhead. Thank you.
I like the way he talks out loud to himself, sharing all this thoughts with us. I really deviated from that stereotypical personality trait in my entry, so I really enjoyed and appreciated you having it in your video.
The reference to Mystery Manor was so wonderful. Since I also brought back a character (Viking) from that project, I took extra delight. Pinhead tiptoeing through the kitchen reminded me of him sneaking around the theater in my project, so I found that particularly amusing.
The argument over Digit and John Doe was funny. (People who are newer to Pinhead should go back and see some of those Mystery Manner entries.)
You wrote one of the best conversations between Pinhead and the kidnapper:
- Pinhead: “How do I know you’ll let her go?”
- Kidnapper: “You have my word as a gentleman and a kidnapper.”
- Pinhead: “Oh, that’s good enough for me.”
Thanks again for a classic entry.
Kidnapped by Colourhttp://vimeo.com/99550055Another entry with a strong and distinctive personality. Colour brings such a unique style to the Pinhead projects.
I like the idea of masquerading as the villain. Very clever way to get some money. The running joke with Boo was pretty funny too, especially the way Pinhead pauses and looks right into the camera to talk directly to us. A favorite line is, “It’s a pity he didn’t do that earlier; he could have extinguished the fire.”
Nice, happy music. The opening music was wonderful, and then was exceeded by the perfect carnival music. I should just play that in the background from time to time. I think it’s physically impossible to listen to that music and be in a bad mood at the same time.
All the carnival rides were wonderfully done. The bright colors lit up my monitor in such a delightful way. Somehow, and I don’t know how, I immediately knew Pinhead and Boo were wearing parachutes when they were on the Ferris Wheel.
I know you struggled with all the avatars on the various rides, and I’m glad you got it to work. It all looked great.
The way they captured the villain in the animal cart was a perfect ending.
Thanks for thinking of Mike in your credits.
