Thanks a lot Peter,

That would be really great to have this fixed for 4.2.

Do you have any timeframe for the 4.2 release ?

Cheers,
Guy.

Hi Guy,

Thanks for your feedback. There are planned improvements to the facial mapping in the upcoming 4.2 upgrade so this may well be rectified then. In the meantime I will forward your findings to the iClone team so they can look into this if it isn't on the current list of fixes for 4.2.

Hello,

Any comment from Reallusion ?

What should I do ? : Keep on working on my head packs, publish those "as is" and warn the user that those "ugly things above the ears" are due to an iClone G4 Head UVs issue ?

Or should I wait for a fix/update/patch ?

I would be glad to know, so I could know what to do.

Cheers,
Guy.

[ISSUE] G4 Head UVs Overlaps

Hi,

As I'm working on creating a set of G4 head faces, I've discovered an issue in the G4 head UVs:

By checking the actual UVs I've located the problem: on both sides of the head, just above the ears, there are two polygons having overlapping UVs :

Check the red areas, this is where the overlaps occur. The result of these overlaps create completly distorded mapping.

I understand that iClone heads are meant to be used with hairs accessories, however this issue is problematic if one wants to provide high-quality textures that map the entire head ( with or without textured hair ).

I've checked some Reallusion and other third-parties faces, none of them actualy provide significant texturing in those areas, albeit the issue is still clearly visible on, for instance, the Face 2 ( and the others to some less extend ) from the pack "G4 Man Face Vol.1" :

In cinematography, closed shots on actors head are essential and often used and it would be great to fix this issue if one want to use high-quality textures ( imagine you need a scare or a tattoo in those areas, it would be nearly impossible to map it, unless using/providing a different set of UVs, but I'm not sure it's possible ? ).

As no current available G4 head face, afaik, is using significant texturing in those areas, a patch or an upgrade with these UVs overlaps fixed would not be a big problem for existing products as the result differences on existing head faces would be quasi unoticable and would allow us to provide high-quality head textures.

Cheers,
Guy.

I can confirm Yllek's "puckering" problem when applying lip-sync in iClone 4 to G2 characters. A partial workaround is to forgo an attempt to have exact lipsync, and just have them saying "memm memm memm" then record a new voice track later.

Hi zuijlen

Thanks for the info. A bit reluctant to upgrade drivers on video cards at the mo as I have read a lot of folks saying BSOD. My son is an I.T. Manager so I got him to have a look we were only able to move it slightly further away but fingers crossed just tried the particle I used earlier and no horrible noise which leaves me scrambling to hit buttons to stop it. I suppose time will tell again thanks for the info.

Hi,

We are wonder whether the problem persists after changing sound card. If the problem persists, please provide the following information. You’ll need to use main support channel: Support Form: http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/User/QForm.aspx) to contact us.

Pasting creates more Motion Layer Keys than have been copied

Hi, just found a bug regarding Motion Layer Keys and Copy&Paste. Copy&Paste pastes more keys than have been copied before.

How to reproduce:
1) Create a new project and add a character.
2) Create 3 new motion layer keys for that character.
3) Select the three keys, copy them, and paste them to a later position in the time line.
4) Select the last two of the motion layer keys just pasted, copy them, and paste them to a later position.

The expected result would by that the last two copied keys will be pasted as two new keys. Instead, four keys will be pasted.

Cheers,
Burkhard

You can blink the eyes by clicking the mouse. (Does this emoticon blink? It's supposed to.)

Sigh. This is about a bug in the face key editor, not about the puppeteering control.

Unresponsive Blinking Muscle

Hi, in the "Muscle" view of the face key editor, the eye blinking muscle (ie. the one centered between the eyes) doesn't work properly. First, closing the eyes with it is way too slow, ie. you have to move the mouse about ten times downwards along the screen to close the eyes. Second, opening the eyes again by moving the mouse upward doesn't work at all. The only way to open the eyes again is to reset all muscles.

You can blink the eyes by clicking the mouse. (Does this emoticon blink? It's supposed to.)
