...I'll keep that "convert to editable mesh" trick in mind. It seems like something that I'll need later on. Here's another one that will really comes in handy, for me.
Many times when you import a character and want to make a few edits....
1. You select the mesh and enter sub-object selection mode. (Where you select a vertex, edge or face.
2. As soon the you make that selection... Boing! The mesh suddenly "Pops of out position."
3. The mesh no longer is aligned to the bones.
Example:
Import a iClone character. Go into polygon selection mode.
Select a polygon....Boing!
Fix this... as you did... Copy the mesh.
(NOW SAVE THE SKIN)
Remove all of the modifiers down to it's original modifier...
(Rest the Vertices and pivots) "This stops the "Boing"
In 3ds Max you use "Reset XForm". or "Freeze Transforms"
Here's how you do it in Maya.
Now the mesh is "Clean"
Clone it... to make Cloth or morphs.
Re-Skin the (Base) mesh quickly by applying the "Saved Skin"
DELETE the Original Mesh you imported...
You just replaced it with a "Clean Mesh.":)Hope This Helps!
