RiViT (10/14/2010) iClone skin color change only works the first time. Once the skin color has been applied, no other iSkin can be selected or applied until I switch to another section of the Avatar editor (Persona, Hair, Upper Body, etc.) and then switch back to Skin. Then a second skin color change can be made, but if I want to change it a third time, the same switching procedure must be followed.
This happens with G3 characters Benny, Dylan and Jana from a 'cold start' of iClone. I didn't try it with any others.

I'm having two problems right now.
When I play back some of my scenes in editor mode, the sound is intermittent and not synched to the picture, which also jumps around.
When I export a scene in iClone 4, there is no sound. I have tried exporting in .avi, .wmv, and flash-- nothing.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I am having an issue with 3DXchange 4. I have a bunch of models that were originally done in 3DStudio Max and then converted to Lightwave. In Lightwave, I export the files as FBX and then import them into 3DXchange. For the most part, the models come in OK, but due to the original 3DStudio Max conversion, there are some normals that are flipped (quite a lot actually). In some cases I can select the offending object and put the editor into Flip Normals mode and do a simple Flip and they are fine. However, in other cases, the normals are half one way and half the other way and flipping just gives me the same result except that the half that were correct are now incorrect and the other half are correct. Then I discovered this great button called Unify, which is supposed to take all the normals in the object and make them all the same. This would solve all my problems if it worked. However, so far I haven't seen anything at all happen no matter how many objects I've tried this function on. The program seems to be doing a ton of work though as the app even goes to a Not Responding state while performing this operation. Once it comes back, however, nothing has changed. Not one single thing. So I have had to resort to zooming in and individually flipping thousands of polygons. This is tedious and annoying. Is there a fix coming for this feature? I noticed that earlier versions of 3DXchange had a 2-sided feature that would render an object double-sided if flip or unify didn't work. This would definitely have solved my problem since Unify isn't working. Is this feature still in there somewhere or some sort of alternative?

I don't know much about it, but have you tried using unify on just the problem areas?
Is this the 2-sided feature your looking for? It's at the bottom of the materials panel. Hope this helps, Chris

Yes, thank you. I didn't realize this was the same thing. That will work for me. I still wish I knew why the unify normals doesn't work though.

Hi, This might be of a little more help, open 3DX4 and press F1, now go to the sections I've circled. This explains what to do if unify is not getting the desired results.
Hopefuly this will make things easier. Happy modding, Chris

I think I may have found an issue with rotation. Please forgive me if this has already been reported; I did a search of the forum and found nothing about it.
This happens with 3D Blocks and only when rotating around the Y axis.
To recreate this, drop any 3D Block into a new project, open the Timeline and the Transform track for the object.
Every twenty frames or so, change the Y axis by any amount between 30 and 60. Do this up to frame 100.
Now go back and look at the rotation values in the key frames you've set. They will not all remain at the values set... unless I'm the only one having this problem.
It seems the greater the difference between the rotation in one frame and the next, the more keys will have been changed by the time you get to frame 100.
EDIT:
The value for the Z rotation will also change sometimes, even though no value has been set.
EDIT 2010-11-07:
I tried this again yesterday after a clean reboot, just to be sure. No other software was running. Here is the test I performed: - new Project - drag in a ball - open the timeline and click Transform to show rotation/scale/move keys - set keys of these values at these frames: - frame 20: Y rotation 20 - frame 40: Y rotation 40 - frame 60: Y rotation 60 - frame 80: Y rotation 80 - frame 100: Y rotation 100
Then I clicked on each of the keyframes I'd set. They were fine. Then I clicked on each again, and there were X and Z rotations of 180 set in frame 100 (which I hadn't set).
I then took out the X and Z rotations and set these keys: - frame 20: Y rotation 30 - frame 40: Y rotation 60 - frame 60: Y rotation 90 - frame 80: Y rotation 120 - frame 100: Y rotation 150
Clicking back through the keys, I found this: - frame 20: Y rotation 30 (OK) - frame 40: Y rotation 60 (OK) - frame 60: Y rotation 90 (OK) - frame 80: Y rotation 60, X = 180, Z = 180 (RESET by iClone) - frame 100: Y rotation 30, X = 180, Z = 180 (RESET by iClone)
Is no one else having this problem?
- Ron T.
