Today I've had iClone 4.01 CRASH on me several times. Seems to occur when I attempt to move a character's HAIR. It's not consistent, as it works most of the time. But today it has crashed about 3 times as I adjust the position of the hair.

In a word: UNSTABLE. :(

Hi,

I am writing to you that this defect has been fixed. We will have updates soon. If we release it, you can check Reallusion Live Update.

Great news, Mick. Thanks for the progress update!

I know this was mentioned elsewhere, but I'm not sure if was posted in this thread.

Dark Wizard Moloch has a bad head (it doesn't move) and his eyes are too low (though they DO move):

To try and resolve some of the issues you are experiencing, early next week another new patch for iClone4 will be released. The 4.02 patch will fix a number of current issues, but the two main areas worked on are Content Compatibility and DRM Activation from iClone3 to iClone4.

Below is a list of the fixes and changes you will find in the patch when it is released next week.

Added: 1-Click Content Verification to verify all your DRM protected content in a single go.
Enhanced: Fine-tuned G1, G2, G3 facial skins to improve facial animation.
Fixed: The face camera view could not be selected for non-standard characters.
Fixed: Some G1/G2 characters had abnormal teeth and/or mouth behavior.
Fixed: Some G1/G2 characters could not be loaded.
Fixed: IK/FK could not be applied to the head of some G1/G2 characters.
Fixed: iClone3 projects which contained props with merged particles could not be loaded.
Fixed: iClone3 projects which contained characters with particles would crash when replacing those characters.
Fixed: iClone3 props with UV animation (i.e. Stage Magician Pack) would not load correctly.
Fixed: Props that use AML scripts would cause the program to crash when the AML script's "PosHelper" value was empty.
Fixed: Removing a character's hair, then undoing/redoing that action, and then re-adjusting the hair would cause the program to crash.
Fixed: Replacing a character would cause IK/FK to become unusable.
Fixed: The description for the Material > "Effect All Materials" option was changed to "Affect All Materials" and is now colored in blue to indicate keyability.
Fixed: The description for Head > Eyes > "Pupils" was changed to "Irises"
Fixed: The dialog title for the "Add to Library" feature on the Collect Clip track of props was corrected.

Thank you for your continued feedback. :)

I've discovered a bug when using IBL features. I'm creating some really large landscapes with very large models in them for a city. When I select the IBL Sunny template, it automatically creates a skybox in the scene with a scale of 250 and all the IBL attributes are applied within this sky sphere's area. Everything else in the scene is unaffected. See the attached image where the sky sphere and lighting are applied to part of some of the buildings and the rest of the scene is not lit properly.

I don't have IC 4 (yet), but can you rescale the skybox? I've had to do something similar in IC 3 with skydomes that are too small for large scenes.

I almost edited my post to make note that scaling the skybox doesn't affect anything. I get a nice new skybox that's the right scale, but whatever IBL lighting calculations that were done when it first created the skybox are still the same and the lighting everywhere else is dark. It seems like the template must assume that it's only dealing with objects within the bounds of that initial sphere.

Just got IC4 and as I expected there are a few issues with robustness. However, in additional to the ones already listed I see a few more:

1. I have a project with one avatar and four props. However the number of polygons is high 160k. Nearly anything I try to do causes a crash. Sometimes even reloading the project causes a crash, sometimes not. The crashes are not consistent, so I think it is more a general problem. As a software engineer myself I am guessing it is memory management, uninitialised variables, stray pointer or something like this.

2. I downloaded the waltz motions from backstage a while back and they appear as trials under IC4. Loading these causes a crash every time. I am connected to the internet while I do this.

3. Sometimes, when trying to save my project I do not get a complete "save as" dialog box. The box appears but it is transparent! so I can't save the project. (Same project as item 1 above)

4. The user interface seems slower than IC3. In fact with a large project it is frustratingly slow. For example trying while trying to place a prop it can take a few seconds before it responds to the mouse movements. This makes placement almost impossible unless you make a mouse movement and then wait, another mouse movement and wait .... It wouldn't be so difficult if the prop stayed under the mouse pointer but the relative movement between the mouse and the prop just makes it harder.

I look forward to the fixes. IC4 is a great package and the content top quality!

My PC is a Dell Vostro 1700 with 4G RAM running Vista (couldn't get the PC with XP sadly)

Are there any known issues with Mega Motion Pack 1 with iClone4? Should this work properly? I just bought it last night and although the motions can be added to an avatar's animation, they seem to be wrong. For example, the character might be leaning strangely while talking or his body is somewhat pinched or contorted when sitting. It's like the bones aren't mapping correctly or something like that.

Does this affect all the motions or just some? Perhaps you could grab a screenshot and post it, or list some of the motion files that you are having problems with and the character you applied it to. I haven't been able to reproduce the problems you mention myself.

I didn't try all the motions because there are so many, but every one that I did try seemed to have some sort of problem. I'll put together a short video clip showing an example later tonight.

Here's an example of one of the issues. The attached clip starts off with a simple idle motion while seated and then switches to a Mega Motions pack motion called Refuse and finally finishes up with another simple idle motion from iClone. Watch when the mega motion pack motion kicks in, the body of the character suddenly gets whacked out and then returns to normal when we go back to the standard iClone idle animation.
