That should be ok.

The CPU isn't Hyperthreaded so you have 4 cores with 4 Threads, instead of 8. IC4 probably only uses 2 Cores anyway.

Video Card ok & supports Pixel Shader 3. 1GB  RAM is Dedicated to the Card & not shared with System RAM.

RAM ok. W7 64 bit, unlike 32 bit, "allocates" the max amount of RAM per Program as long as the Total of Running Programs doesn't exceed 4GB (in your case). Iclone uses upto 2GB

FWIW - I've gone-back to Basics & am working my way through Warlord's Tut.

Good luck:)

I know that a lot has been changed from iclone 2 to the later versions (I tried the iclone 3 demo when it was released and was astonished about the improvements).

Here are the specifications of my system:

Intel Quad Core Q6600, 2.4 Ghz
4 GB RAM (unfortunately the mainboard cannot handle more than 4 GB.
Radeon HD 5700 Sapphire (1024 MB RAM)
OS: Win 7 (64 bit)

Do you think that is okay for iclone 4.2?

There's really no comparison between 2 & 5. 5 is a different Program, so are 3 & 4. You can forget about 2 - It's history.

You don't need 2 Installed. However 2 & 4 can exist "Side-by-side".

After you've Installed 4, Update to 4.3.

BTW - Warlord's Tut supplies additional Content for the on-going Project, that isn't already included in the Program.

Don't be tempted into side-tracking. Complete the Tut & you'll be amazed at what you've produced.

You need to ensure that your PC meets iClone 4's Recommended & not Minimum Hardware requirements. Especially your Video Card that needs Pixel Shader 3 & a minimum of 500Mb Dedicated Memory. Recommended 1GB.

And Minimum 4GB RAM. Recommended 6 GB.

Ideally, yoiur CPU shoild be Dual or Quad Core @ eg; 3.2 GHz. Anything less than 2,4 GHz will give you probs. A single Core Intel P4 would be the minimum, IMO.

IMO, it's important to check-out your PC's Hardware first & your OS eg; XPSP3 / Vista SP1 or 2 (Never had it), W7 Home Premium SP1. Doesn't matter if Vista/W7 are 32 or 64 Bit. XP will be 32 Bit.

Anyone-else?

Thanks, colour, for the information and the tutorial links. That's great.

I know that iclone 5 is the latest version. But I can get a brandnew iclone 4.2 pro upgrade (boxed version) at a very good price (29,99 Euro = 37,00 USD - that's much cheaper than upgrading to 5.0), and I think the features of 4.2 will fit my needs, since I am not a professional movie maker. I only want to make some little projects for me personally to have some fun with.

Maybe you or someone else can help me with these questions:

Am I correct that the fomer "studio" is now called "pro"?

Does my old iclone version has to be installed on my pc if I want to upgrade to 4.2 version?

Welcome-back:)

Latest iClone Version is 5. Get the PRO.

Logging-In to your iClone A/C using the e-mail Address you purchased iC 2 with, might bring-up your iC 2 Product. If it does, go to Bonus & Upgrade. If it doesn't, send Forum Adminstrator Peter Edwards a Private Messsage.

In any event, iC5 is for the most part, completely different from 2. More sophisticated, more Features. Endless possibilities.

I highly recommend you purchase Warlord's iC4 Project-based Beginners Tutorial for iC4 (Updated to include additional Features in iC5). IMO, the PDF Version is the best . You can have that Open at the same time as iC & switch Windows as go through the Tut. Foxit PDF Reader is the best & easiest to use.

IMO, you should ignore iC5 User Manual & Video Tuts until you've completef ALL of Warlord's Tut. When you've done that they "might" make some sense. If you go through them first, they won't.

When you've finished Warlord's Tut, you can then look at Stuckon3D's & Mark's Tut's for more advanced stuff.

Links to Warlord's Tut & Foxit Reader to be added to my Post.

I haven't been here in the forums for a while, so I say 'sorry' if this questions have been answered before.

I have iclone 2.0 studio and now I get the chance to upgrade to the version 4.2 pro. But I am not sure if this upgrade from iclone 2.0 studio to iclone 4.2 pro is possible. Is it?

Does iclone 2.0 have to be installed on my computer to upgrade? I removed it when I got a new computer and since I did not have the time to work with iclone 2.0 I did not install it on the new one.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I just bought iClone 4 Standard. I am trying to use the 'cut', 'copy' and 'paste' option in Timeline but in vain. Would you help please. Thank you.

The option to cut, copy, and paste keyframes and perform other advanced timeline functions is only available in the Pro version. Click here to open a page to compare the iClone versions.

What exactly are you trying to cut and paste?
