... a wishful feature ...

(( when the face texture is edited, prevent face color changes from being applied automatically to the rest of the skin ))

The reason you're not sure whether this is a bug is probably an indicator of the fact that it's been around almost since iClone began, without ever being adequately documented.

It's considered (by Reallusion) to be a feature, not a bug. This makes it possible to alter any skin-texture color, including head, and automatically update the entire character to match the new color.

I've always hated, hated, hated it.

Do you remember the ill-fated Evolver service for generating iClone avatars online? The only good that came of it is that Reallusion inadvertently let slip a secret in the documentation for that site: the global skin-color updates are controlled by a small patch in the upper left-hand corner of the given skin texture file. I think they said it was 10x10 pixels.

You can change the color of any skin texture, until the cows come home, without messing up the rest of the avatar, as long as you leave that small corner unchanged.

Obviously, I agree there ought to be a setting that turns the damn thing off.

Physics got a problem in 5.23

Hi moviemaker,

I have passed your feedback to the iClone team. However I think it is important to remember that "Ragdoll" physics is still a work in progress and not officially released yet.

While many of our super talented developers have done some amazing work using ragdoll physics, we sadly can't guarantee that these unofficial mods will still work as we move forward with development.

If the iClone team have any further feedback on this I will update again. :)

I wasn't sure whether to post this as an issue or a wishful feature ....

when I first load up a face on to my character, the rest of the body skin adjusts colors accordingly.

Now if I call up the face texture in a paint program and alter it - lighten it / re-colorize it....when I save, it adjusts the face and not the rest of the body skin. When I try to adjust the upper in the iclone control panel to match the new face colors, it automatically adjust the face also - making it impossible to match the skin tones. I can alter the upper skin tone manually by loading it into a paint program, but it turns into guess work and very hard to make them seamless.

I'm not sure if a fix would be to unlink the upper from the face OR re-adjust body skin tone after I alter the face in a paint program OR if this is a bug.

Hi PSD,

Please try the following to resolve the skin tone issue.

If you want the body skin to match the face skin tone try the following:

Go to Actor > Skin and select "Face" from the Material & Texture Settings dropdown on the Modify Panel. Then put a check in Affect All Materials.

If you want the face to match the body skin tone then you can just select Upper instead of Face.

This will normally resolve the problem.

To be fair nothing was "let slip". This information was included in the very first whitepaper that was released in the Developer Center back when iClone was a mere baby. :P

@Peter (RL)
Unfortunately this not only a problem of cheesy ragdolls.
Your whole constraint-part has a problem, so I get the impression.
Read this:
https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic134071-14-1.aspx

Furthermore the ragdolls in the video are nothing special!
Only some connected primitives over constraints.

But "special" physical things like Veeks avatars destroy the preview, f.e. .
Don´t know, since what program version this is happening.

Honestly, Asking us to "issue a support ticket" is almost a joke!:D
If you do that you will get a pat answer and a request about explain "what is your video card, your memory, CPU, OS, DirectX version and such!

:)Hello

My timeline has suddenly stopped working. Yesterday while I had it up I couldn't get it to show props etc. so I could see their transform etc. This morning when I fired up...the timeline won't come up at all. Kind of disruptuive to my work flow. I haven't done anything "crazy" that I'm aware of. Is their a repair utility or am I in for a complete new download. If I go that direction, will it destroy my prop and project files.

Any help short of a reload would be helpful

 Pete
