I am looking for any suggestions about how to get CrazyTalk Animator installed on my laptop (or desktop, since I get the same problem in both places). None of the other products I purchased from Reallusion have had this problem (iClone, WidgetCast, popCast, and CrazyTalk 6). I used the form to contact support, they gave me a list of things to do (including shutting of the routers firewall, which I think is a ridiculous requirement), and none of them work. They asked for a screen capture of the message (which I had sent in text form) and not I have heard nothing back. The sad part is that there is no "error", it just waits forever when checking the serial number.

Any clues on what I might be able to try. Or is it time to return the product for a refund?

Hi..

Sorry to hear of your problems with CrazyTalk Animator.

It clearly seems like your firewall or security software is blocking access to the Reallusion server to activate/deactivate your computer. You will need to make sure that full access is allowed for the software to complete this process. An open, active internet connection is required.

You can check all replies from Support in your Reallusion Account. Sometimes emails get filtered as spam/junk so keep a check in your account should this have happened.

As soon as you are able to sort out the connection issue you should be able to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the reply, but that is exactly what support suggested and it is what I tried. My connectivity seems fine. I can reach everything in the list that support sent me, and I am at a loss. I am not thrilled with disabling the router firewall and software that requires this is not well written. I am using a standard Verizon FIOS router and I can't be the only one.

And yes, I have been checking the ticket directly online. And I sent the screen capture that was requested over 48 hours ago and have seen no other updates other than my requests for an update.

I disabled my anti-virus and firewall on the laptop. There is nothing special about the firewall on the router that was configured.

Anyone know what ports Reallusion is using for this verification?

Peter,
I hope I didn't come across as harsh to your reply. It was not aimed at you. I guess I am frustrated because I bought this product that I couldn't wait to try over a week ago now and have not been able to try it. I do appreciate your help in your previous post. So, sorry if I sounded overly critical :crying:

Not at all. I fully understand your frustration, I would feel the same way in your position. Sadly for this kind of issue you will need to keep in touch with Support so they can help you further. They will obviously have to investigate your system more to try and find the cause of the problem. I really do hope you can get this resolved soon.

Glad to read that you have a second computer and won't have switched off any of the protections on that.

Maybe you could tell Reallusion exactly what your router and security software is so that they can set up one of their own PCs to troubleshoot and identify why their verification system doesn't work with your configuration so that they can find a solution without leaving YOU exposed - especially as - as an animator - you probably have hours and hours and hours of unique multimedia work on your hard drive.

In the meantime, I imagine they could easily send you an offline installer - so that you can get started with the program and stay enthused rather than become fatigued and disenchanted.

If they are concerned that you would leak this .exe out to other people and diminish sales amongst their 200,000+ user base, I don't see why they can't send you a temporary program that (like a Demo) pastes a watermark over anything you produce or only allows you to output at a small screen resolution.

Of course, this will become unnecessary when all software is "in the cloud" and publishers will PROVIDE cutting edge software, unlimited processing GRUNT and fail safe back-ups.
