Hey everyone,

This is my day for asking what are probably dumb questions but this has been bothering me for a while and searching hasn't helped. I've even resorted  to actually reading the user guide..

When I use a path to animate a character walking, I get to the end and want to release them from the path so I can do other animation in the new location. As soon as I relase an avatar, they head back to their origin point. I'm sure I've used paths where that hasn't happened. What have I missed?

some motions are just hard coded like that to a location

one possible way to circumvent this without dramatically changing your workflow .....have the character attached to a dummy prop, and have the dummy prop follow the path - this way when you release it -  the character stays wherever the dummy prop stays.

That issue popped up a patch or so ago. It is a known issue I believe. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next version or we'll have an even better method of locomotion control! :D

Until then Planet's suggestion of using an "intermediate" object/dummy between the Path and the "linked" Avatar on the Path should help..;)

This is how you break off /release in the middle of the path and seamlessly add another clip: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost450516.aspx

Thanks everyone. I'll use Planet's solution to get me out of trouble and hope IC8 fixes the issue when it finally arrives.

I have posted this problem (including on the feedback tracker) since version 6
For some reason, RL has chosen to do nothing about it.
It is very frustrating to the point I won't use the path tool

It has been suggested a work around is to link your avatar or object to a dummy prop which is attached to the path. You then unlink your object/avatar from the dummy once you want it to leave the path. That works to a point, but the object/avatar doesn't adopt all of the characteristics that it would if it was linked directly to the path.

Reallusion PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!!
