While I agree that this can be done by adjusting the lighting, It would be good if this can be done with a slider (or maybe a few sliders). This is currently being done with the makeup module so its not impossible.

Maybe the answer is that the lights in default Iclone project are different "colours " to the default in CC3,
Also as far as I can see have both have a default IBL image activated but it is different in IC7 to CC3 so this will add to the differences in appearance / render.
I would think regardless of what you set up in CC3 if Iclone is where you expect to do final render or animation then that's where you need to determine your lighting and the look you want.

I am new to Reallusion  so am no expert . I don't like the default settings and have a saved project without any lighting then add my own from various "light rigs" I have set up and saved and try to follow  fundamental lighting  concepts used in photography.

Then, how come you can still see the character in CC after turning off all the lights? (But you can't see it in iClone after turning off all the lights.)

You change ambient light color in Visual from dark blue to black and the character would turn black.

The character is still there trust me :)

Gerry shared a neat trick in the other thread. You save a CC project. You then rename the project extension from .CCProject to .iProject and open it in iClone.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that.

iClone is no different a bit from CC, when it comes to rendering/displaying texture. It is all about lighting and environment.
I can make him look lighter or darker as I will in iClone.

Then, how come you can still see the character in CC after turning off all the lights? (But you can't see it in iClone after turning off all the lights.)

As I clearly demonstrated above, you can get the same results in iClone. Gerry shows that as well.

So why do you ignore these posts and continue to state your non-issue?

What's in it for me if I state my "non-issue"?
I may be ignorant (since I'm new and all), but I don't remember ignoring anything.
I don't quite agree that you "clearly demonstrated above" that you can get the same results in iClone. You yourself said "iClone renders a bit darker" even under the same lighting condition, didn't you?

Now, I just saw Gerry's post. That's fantastic if that means you get exactly the same skin tone under exactly the same lighting condition across CC and iClone. But the other three (you, Data Juggler, and I) failed to achieve that. So I honestly don't understand how Gerry was able to make that happen, but not the other three.

When you set up the same lighting condition in iClone, I don't know how to exactly locate each and every light in exactly the same location and at exactly the same angle (like Gerry apparently did), so I removed all the existing lights from CC and iClone. In CC, somehow you can still see the character even after removing all the lights. But in iClone, the character is solid black so you can't see any thing except its outline. And when you turn on only auxiliary light, the iClone character is clearly darker than the CC character.

So I'm guessing the brighter tone in CC is due to the fact that there's still some light in CC even when you turned off all the lights. Am I wrong about this?

You could sum it up as Character Creator is a campaign promise, and IClone is the actual results.

So you agree that the skin tone is problematic.
How come I don't see any post pointing out this problem?
I couldn't have been the first to notice the problem.

Below is the "SkinGen_Skin" Project from CC 3.3:

The same Project in iClone 7.8:

You can get the same results between the 2, but it won't always be desirable to have the same lighting conditions in an animated scene that is used in a static character scene.

I notice some difference, but CC 3 characters look so much better today than they did a couple of years ago when I first bought this, so I am happy things are going in the right direction.
