Hi,

UPDATE: This issue does not exist with Krita (which is free) and Clip Studio Paint (trial version). It would still help if there was a way to make it work in Affinity Designer though.

I am starting to feel that working with PSD templates only really works with Photoshop?!
I am trying to edit the 'Human_Front_Full_Template' in Affinity Designer, which does only show layers and no folders for all elements.
Already after importing the template it looked weird, as many labels seem to be missing (which do show up in Photoshop in the youtube tutorial).

Now even if I do not edit anything but just import the template from Affinity Designer into CA4, I get an error message. Here is what the error log says:

Missing Head Group: HeadBone
Did not match Human Template Bone - Missing Bone: Head
Did not match Human Template Bone - Missing Bone: Head_Nub
Did not match Human Template Bone - Missing Bone: Hip
...

(and so on)

Is it actually possible to use templates which were NOT edited in Photoshop? If anybody has an idea how I can make it work in Affinity Designer (or another software which is not Photoshop), I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
Andy

I use Affinity Designer for my Cartoon Animator 4 project.
So far having no problem.
The only thing I have to do is after exporting the human template to Affinity Designer,
I have to hold CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + H  on the 2 main Folders so that all the contents inside it are available.

Thanks for the hint.
Not sure why it does not work for me, but I still get an error when I import the template into Affinity Designer and export without any changes.

"Missing Head Group: HeadImage
Missing Face Layer"

Will have to use Krita for now.

Hi...

First thing to check is that you have "Enable "Save" over imported PSD Files" checked in your Affinity General Preferences.

If you then still have problems, please try the following workaround:

Affinity by default will automatically remove hidden layers when exporting in PSD format.

https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/f435d237-1e62-481e-a86a-03e6.png

So when using CTA 4 to launch PSD to Affinity, the hidden layers will be deleted by Affinity (Designer/Photo) and cause sprites to be missing after updating back to CTA 4.

To workaround this please try the following:

Step 1. Select the "Layer" on the Affinity menu bar then click the Show All (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H).

Step 2. Save this character in PSD format. You should now not have any missing sprites.
