So, I spoke with a developer at PersistantStudios and they stated they have released v2 a few months back. When will iClone 7 upgrade from v1.01 to v2. Because you can not currently use it in UE 4.24 since they are no longer supporting or allowing the download of lower versions from the Launcher. Currently, PopcornFX doesn't work in I-Ray nor does it seem like it will be a priority to have it work. Will this be uploaded to the new version? Also, after speaking with the developer her stated that you can download the actual editor and possible import it into the new v2 editor and it will convert but it is basically a work around that may or may not work but it has to be in package form.

Hi... The 2020 Roadmap is currently being finalised and will be published soon. This will reveal our software/plugins upgrade plans so do keep a look out for that.

Unfortunately it has been confirmed that there are no immediate plans to update PopcornFX.

So, this is disappointing. Another plugin that was hyped and then basically abandoned, kinda like I-Ray which is useless if you do any partical effects and 600 materials that can't be used. Kind of feels like a trend to be honest. Which is funny since you released the sequencer.

I just don’t know how to adequately express how disappointing this is. Not only do I feel conned yet again by Reallusion’s “make a quick buck and walk away” strategy, but the fact that they can abandon a plugin that is actually useful and impactful to all iclone animators in favour of focussing on trying to gain credibility with the smaller segment of “game developers” says so much about Reallusion’s disinterest in customer loyalty. I honestly felt that with the introduction of Popcorn fx the standard of animation across the iclone community took a big leap forward and I recognised that viewers were seeing these effects as standout elements in the production that gave it a more professional look. I also began to see industry people being more receptive to the idea that iclone had advanced beyond the toy / game “look” that they had previously been so dismissive of. I was so excited that we were moving into an era where I (based on Reallusion’s hype) believed there was a commitment to making iclone a commercial standard animation solution. The lack of insight by Reallusion into the importance high quality effects for animators and the current focus on game development is a major disconnect with its user base and leads me to believe I need to focus on finding solutions elsewhere. Would welcome any recommendations from the group. Tony

For me the big problem of popcorn it's prohibited sale of particles. Some users unterstund how the editor works and I am sure they could sell them which would give a serious credible boost. The V1 version of the editor is difficult to understand and the V2 version is worse. Seriously how want to manage this kind of workflow????

yes I was one of them when I worked with the "Shake" compositing software but I only did that 8 hours a day because it's too specialized. This kind of worklow is not for one man band . Reallusion create tools for one man band , popcorn is not for this kind of workflow that's why Reallusion implemented very well popcorn particle in a easy way to manage in Iclone. And That's why they must open the store for specialists in particles creation.
