For now they have no plans on updating to PopcornFX v2. Also, as it stands we can't even sell PopcornFX items in the market place. It seems they have abandon it for the near future and possibly beyond. Particle Illusion (now owned by Boris FX) has a free stand-alone version available for video effects (sim to After Effects) which you can download HERE. Jeff

Thanks. Do you know if reallusion is going to upgrade to v2?

PopcornFX v2 files are not compatible with iClone. You can use the PopcornFX v1.12 editor to create effects that can be imported into iClone using the PopcornFX plugin. Otherwise, you have to using the iClone tools. Jeff

Just to clarify can I create popcornfx v2 in their editor and import them into iclone as popcornfx effects? Or do I have to use the editor in iClone?

Hi mtakerkart,
There was some delay due to double-checking development schedule. We are planning to release them by end of February (this week). Sorry for the wait and thanks for your patience, we know you have been waiting!

Kelleytoons (2/8/2020) They just announced their 2D roadmap so right at the moment it seems like they are focused on it, but next week they will announce their 3D one and, again, I'm confident we will see some wonderful stuff. After that happens then folks can start to complain specifically about things (in some ways it's unfortunate that Pete spilled the beans about Popcorn in advance of that roadmap. But I understand the pressures RL is under -- we both WANT information and then we get angry when they provide it, if it isn't what we wanted to hear. COMPLETE full disclosure would help, but it's almost impossible for any company to do that.
And, to be clear, I'm not at all happy about Popcorn's abandonment either. I use it all the time, it's essential, and even if, say, atmospherics are provided in 8 (which I think is likely) it won't do away with the need for more particle FX inside of iClone. As always, and I can't say it enough, RL's desire to please the Unreal crowd is EXTREMELY short-sighted. We all know Unreal is working on animation tools, so iClone will become just a stepping stone that will soon be bypassed. RL needs to concentrate on the folks who want and use the core product and, at least for now, say they've done enough for UnReal (basically the way they've said they've done enough for particle FX). Move on and help your folks who use this as their one and only animation tool and they will be successful. Any other path will lead to doom (and that means Very Bad Things for all of us who love the products).Hello Kelleytoons, The 3D Team is also preparing announcements and now we are checking and proofreading of our materials. Really appreciate everyone's feedback on iClone, and we are hoping we can get everything ready and update you next week. Stay tuned! Reallusion 3D Team

Since they are not doing anything with Popcorn for 2020 I doubt the roadmap will clarify things any. And I don't need support (and own the plugin as well) -- again, if you want a few bucks, contact me privately (others might do the same to you). I'd buy whatever you have just on the basis of the video (I'm too old to have much time left for waiting. Sigh).

Wow Mtakerkart that some pretty impressive fx you have created in that video. I keep telling myself I need to dive in to learn how to use the Popcorn Fx editor and this video has certainly inspired me to have a go. Thanks, Tony
