I made this same mistake several months ago and lost like 30 really polished character models in the process. The upside is that the base characters were all FBX Transformer imports chreated in other programs, so I had the ability to go back, re-import and redo each character. Now while that sounds tedious and horrible, which technically it was, being forced to go back and redo each character forced me to not only get better at learning the ins and outs of the program, but also gave me an opportunity to really polish the original concepts, as you notice small details you may miss the first time you create something. What you lose in time, you gain in creative inspiration. So you got that goin' for ya'... which is nice... :D

FYI, I've had the same problem of accidentally deleting files, I've used several programs but found EASEUS the most powerful and reliable, I've used it to recover other people's system too.. EASEUS its so effective that it will recover files deleted years before, and yes, it does recover iclone files!

Yeah, this is a UI interface matter, and a pretty important customer service one actually. It is easy to make mistakes and to give the user a redundancy is good practice.

dante1st (1/16/2020) So basically, all this would be resolved if Reallusion made it so deleted items went to the deleted items folder first, instead of permanently deleting them. I wonder if there has ever been a feedback tracker submitted on this. All I could find in FT was a request for a popup (which was implemented) and a comment a from a user to use the Recycle Bin. So it seems a FT entry is in order.

I did use Recuva with no results. However I did find files that I purposely deleted long ago so that was strange.:ermm::doze:

I just saw myself delete a custom object the other day because it was highlighted when I thought I was deleting something from the scene. Then I realized that's probably why I'm always missing things I'm sure I've saved within iclone. It's way to easy to do. Especially when you're just trying to save something to your library and then delete it from the scene.

there's a software called Recuva - distributed by the same guys that make Ccleaner - chances are the basic undelete may not see these files - but files are never really deleted ..only overwritten over time. Recuva goes to those hidden areas and if the file hasn't yet been overwritten, you may be able to recover it that way....this is also how "permanently deleting" files work, nothing is actually erased, simply overwritten with empty data sets. https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva

I find that this happens when inadvertently meaning to delete a scene listed item. If you hit delete while a custom folder accidentally is also highlighted, you may delete the custom folder. I found the only recovery is to go to a project where you were using the asset and then export it out of that project.
You can just straight copy the items you wish to back up to another windows folder also as a redundancy
