Hi.

There is a tool for blender that is quite nice to face creation. I think headshot could have some of the features that exists in facebuilder. For example the way you build the face with points and adjust the face directly in the model.
Other cool feature is the ability to see the image below and zoom in. It would ease the process to match the shape of the face.

Building the face with points would be a step back to the way it worked in CT8, which didn't give such great results. So I don't see the advantage of adding pins except maybe for final adjustments. The process also seems a lot more cumbersome.

EDIT: However, you seem to be able to work with other than face front images to get a model so that is a plus. You would still need a texture though.

I don't have CT8 so I can't compare.

The fact you can see the mesh could be an option to better align the face elements  would help to reprojection. And also can be zoomed in/out.
We can add multiple points so adjustments can be more precise. That's what I think. Could be cumbersome, but headshot in its fine adjustments also is.

I agree that the side face adjustment is a plus.

It's actually pretty amazing - we use it in film/tv production in nuke for face tracking and face replacements.  It will not be useful for CC3 as you won't be able to do anything with the mesh - although, it does an amazing job of projecting and blending textures, so you could output the "butterfly" texture and use it to improve the textures generated by headshot.

FaceBuilder allows you to use multiple photos (they actually recommend using at least 7) taken from different angles. As you place / adjust the pins for each photo, FaceBuilder magically (with, uh... math) improves the accuracy of the face mesh. It's actually a pretty great concept, imo -- probably *technically* superior to Headshot -- but, based on the Youtube tutorials & demos I've been watching, I've been unimpressed by the results people have been getting, especially with regards to textures. For Average Joe's like use, Headshot seems to produce better results out of the box.

I think headshot is an amazing product. And I only want it to improve.
Why I think this is a great product is because you can use multiple points to adjust the face and can be used multiple angles.
The fact you can do it only with the mesh visible is a plus as you can see clearly the face shape, that's a thing I think headshot is inferior. Headshot could have something similar to adjust the face.

You cannot use the head from another source to replace a head in iClone.

Simply put, the internal structure is different and you will not be able to animate it. It also would not fit on the body. 

Now you could try to export a character with the newly created head from Blender as FBX and then import that via 3DXchange. It would come in as a prop and you would need do the conversion to a character.

To me that seems like a lot of extra work with little benefit.
