I have tried a few things with lighting and DOF at my loft scene.
Since i wanted to know how it looks in Iray, I have rendered the first and last frame, with some 'optimizations'.
Something looks dull even with Iray, but that's actually some lo-res textures that where used for the walls.
What's more interesting is, that Iray handles depth of field somewhat different, and also the lights and shadows.
I have enabled GI and disabled tone mapping / HDR. They are also handled differently. As well as IBL.

You only have 2 sliders for that in the Iray settings, so it seems impossible to replicate the iClone DOF.
EDIT: Here i raised the 'blur radius multiplier' a bit:

Based on the render of those stills, the whole clip would take about 14 days to render, with the default photorealistic preset at FullHD.
EDIT: my conslusion for now is that Iray does some things more physically correct. And if i want to achive that look within iClone, i have to work around it.
But if i wanted to produce a movie, i simply could not afford using Iray.
And to be honest: the iClone realtime engine is simply awesome. Without it, i weren't even able to create any animations at all...
